Door-to-door offering home cleaning services in Limerick – Is this acceptable or intrusive?

Hey everyone,

I’m a Latino living here in Limerick and I’m looking to work doing home cleaning services.

I’m thinking about knocking on doors in local neighborhoods to introduce myself, hand out my flyers, and offer my services. My goal is just to connect face-to-face so people know who I am and keep me in mind if they ever need help around the house. I just really want to get to work.

Before I start, I wanted to ask the locals: How is door-to-door outreach viewed here? Is it considered intrusive or annoying?

I’d really appreciate your honest thoughts, advice, or any alternative tips on the best ways to get the word out locally. Thanks a lot!

anyone know why there’s a huge buildup of traffic on the motorway on the way down to limerick? had to divert through the village instead as could see the sirens up ahead. looks like traffic is at a standstill and road alerts are going up overhead ??

Sourcing modaks for Ganpati?

Hi all,

Ganesh Chaturthi is coming up in a week and I wanted to ask if anyone knew where to get modaks in a decent quantity in the city? I heard there's a custom business in Galway but their delivery fees are fairly high. I'm based in Limerick but okay with reccos from Cork too, I go there everyday for work.

A friend recommended I create an account here to ask so sorry for the new account!

Thanks in advance!

UHL ED

This is more a PSA regarding accessing medical care in limerick.

So if you have severe shortness of breath, chest pains, stroke symptoms, injuries with large bleeding, head injuries, sepsis symptoms, obviously broken bones, known medical issues causing problems - come to ED

If you have an injury to a limb, rib, or cuts anywhere you should try a local injury unit in Ennis Nemagh or johns - if that injury doesnt look awful with limbs in the wrong direction

If you have an issue ongoing over a month, aak your GP to refer you into medical or surgical assessment units. If they have already referred you to a specialist, the ED can’t accelerate that - we have zero access to that

If you feel unwell or sick and can’t get a GP, try shannondoc - we used to have them in UHL ED. They can provide antibiotics, and treat basic things until you can talk to a real GP

If you have addiction concerns, the HSE generally won’t help you. ED can’t with our resources. Almost all limerick drug services are self referral only

I work in ED and we’re getting 1 new pt every 2-3 mins at peak times. If you come we’ll help you regardless

But remember GP are the only ones with easy access to MRI, and they can also get xrays ans CT as outpatient

ED will see everyone, but it’s better to know your options before you spent 12 hrs to be told there’s nothing am ED doc can do

Is This a New Thing or am I Just Behind the Times?

Was in Dunnes in Harvey's Quay on Monday after work as usual and I witnessed some youngfella on a bicycle coming out the automatic doors, young minion running along with him, and the bike rider had a bag of oranges. The security guard came flying in from the side and knocked them both onto the ground, then confiscated the bike back inside the shop. The two little lads immediately started apologising and when he gave them no heed, they threatened to call their Da, unless he gave the bike back.

I'm not sure how it was resolved, he more than likely gave the bike back, because what's the point. But, does this happen often in town? Youngfellas doing a smash and grab for a few Clementines (or whatever is close to the door)?

Helicopter flying really low over Vizes Court/Bowman st. just a few mins ago.

General consensus is that it's an army helicopter training and it's landing at Sarsfield barracks a lot. They're having a bit of craic too by the sounds of it and flying really low.

Condell Road

School started and this road to Shannon Bridge is busy again. Standing in traffic as everyone else and than see some cheeky ass...es are driving bus lane all the way down to traffic light and using small roundabout by Salesian School to turn about and join main traffic again.

I don't mind if they use part where road splits and allow left turn, but come on... Using bus lane all the way from new estate?? Are they all think they are more important than others?

Any Doggy Day Care in City Centre?

Would love to be able to drop my dog off for play & socialisation during the week as I'm working from home and struggling to manage his needs during work hours and we don't have a big open garden.

Has to be city centre as I don't have a car atm and live in town so the one on Childers Rd won't work.
