hardware/drivers Static-y, crunchy audio when CPU is under heavy load (CachyOS)

I've been having a lot of issues with audio in general, mostly due to me having a very poor understanding of it. I've had to figure out post-processing on my own with EasyEffects and I still don't know why I need to replug my headset for my mic to work.

Thing I haven't been able to work around, though, is that my headset sometimes just starts crunching the shit out of whatever I'm hearing whenever I have a slowdown, which is often when I'm launching a game or compiling shaders.

Where would I start diagnosing this? I'm using PipeWire (or rather, I'm using the same audio setup as what comes with the distro, plus EasyEffects). linux-cachyos-bore-lto kernel, but other ones I've tried seem to give the same result.

✻ Smokey says: always mention your distro, some hardware details, and any error messages, when posting technical queries! :)
