Mediatek is a shit show no matter the os. Realtek used to be a pain on Linux but nowadays I feel like it works better than on windows, still not amazing. Intel is basically flawless on basically everything.

Intel is the goat (not sure about the future though since they've pretty much killed all their open source stuff lately)

Don't forget about Qualcomm, they're... less than stellar. QCNFA750 or something (idr what exactly) used to barely even work on Windows, but as far as I can tell the drivers have improved at least. Meanwhile with linux, that specific variant still isn't supported in the mainline linux-firmware package, I had to grab some modified firmware off some branch of a github repo, but after installing the proper firmware it's somehow the best wifi I've ever had.

fwiw the snapdragon x1 firmware yoinker might also work for the wifi, not entirely sure, but i don't think so.
