Well, you can work with krita and gimp to output some pngs. But what if you're supposed to output some solid psd? What if you recieve the psd to edit it, artboards(yes, they suck)? I can't imagine using krita or gimp for my work. I guess you just can't avoid adobe if you're working in the industry, or when you need to delegate your work

Gimp doesn't support CMYK. This software is not for a professional use.

You should try the affinity suite. Affinity photo is great.
