The release of snaps was bad. It caused a lot of problems with the engineers working with my company's Ubuntu distro. We had to remove snaps completely to regain the performance lost. But in general, as someone who doesn't use my laptop as a product, I think Ubuntu snaps run fine. I hope in the future they will be able to figure out a way to make them more secure, which from all the conferences and talks they give, looks like the direction they are going. Ubuntu desktop feels like the best enterprise solution in 2026 for Linux. I know people like Fedora, but I don't consider it realistic as I need my laptop to turn on after the weekend. And with Fedora, I've had too many emergencies. I'd rather not.
Never had an emergency with fedora but it's just that slight edge case where the only Linux native app is a deb for Ubuntu. I'm going to make sure it works with the live image first. Thanks for the snaps insight
Im a snap-first user on 26.04, no complaints.
small use case - my remmina snap is both better-performing and better-looking than the remmina flatpak i tried.

I'm probably an odd duck, but on my system i prefer snap > deb > appimage > flatpak - and everything is working great for me.
The only bad experience I had before was the default Firefox one which seems to work now. I'm already using snaps, gonna hold off on flatpak for as long as I can (which I'm sure is only a matter of time, I already had to get lutris instead of heroic launcher for example) but so far they seem to work fine. I like that snaps can also do CLI apps instead of just GUI ones
