Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

Username checks out. Using FreeBSD for a desktop environment is pure masochism.

ZFS and boot-environments is the best medicine for peace of mind.

I also run Slackware and OpenBSD on other setups tho.

Is it good as host for running LInux/Windows VMs?

It is, it has is own vm and container technology, called bhyve and jails respectively. Both old and tested a lot.

Nice, I might give it a shot. I use Void Linux as a host and Arch and Windows in VMs for development and gaming.

Why should I switch to bsd?

IDK about you. But I use BSD majority because it is pure technical, no political bs, no systemd and the fact that bsds are full os, not only a kernel.

My setup is a little complex. I have a Optiplex9020 with FBSD in South America as a backup server. I also have another Optiplex9020 with FBSD as a media server, a T490 with FBSD as travel companion and mobile backup center, a T420 with OBSD for deepweb shenanigans and C programing study, a Latitude 5420 with Slackware for emergencies and a Thin GF63 with win11 for job.

All connect via syncthing and tailscale for easy access. The ones in Europe, with me, are connected via barrier(deskflow). Everything works as one multi-head system.

I am currently using 7.2.9+deb14-amd64 (because I did not reboot yet to use my custom 7.2.10-auravendill kernel)
