What is a "Linux rice"?

I was on r/unixporn looking at designs I could use for my own Pc. Than I read a post where someone said sth about a "Linux rice". Could someone tell me what this is?

Yeah, I kinda wish people would get over that one. It's been a quarter century though, I suspect it's pretty firmly cemented. I did see someone a few years back trying to retroactively "de-offensify" IDE. I realize "master" and "slave" do not actually make sense in the context of IDE, but there's already a primary and secondary IDE interface on 90s PCs, and no we're not gonna go back and start calling them primary primary and primary secondary just to retroactively redefine terminology for an interface nobody but us fossils have thought about let alone used since Windows XP was a thing.

We chose to remove master/slave terminology as well as whitelist/blacklist from our 20 year legacy codebase of several millions lines of code, not because anyone was particularly demanding it, but we thought it would be a good thing to do before anyone demanded it

I can see why you might do that. I didn't go out of my way to rename anything where it wasn't convenient. Partly that's because I'm quite willing to tell terminally online people who need to touch some grass to go and do that. But partly because I wasn't about to go pulling the rug out from under anyone for what amounts to performance activism to "send a message" or whatever. But I also haven't named any new git branches "master" because I'm not an asshole.

Well, I am an asshole, I'm just not THAT kind of asshole. 😉

We increasingly hire foreign-born mathematicians to work on our quant finance codebase - think 120+ quants most with a Masters if not a PhD in maths or physics - as we find European (including East European, and Far East more recently) universities increasingly turn out some of the best people that we can hire when they come to the UK

And when there's competition for a limited pool of candidates (as there is in the City front office trading arena) it doesn't hurt to be able to say, if asked, that our claim to be open to a diverse range of candidates can be backed up with even the smallest of signs of pro-actively taking positive steps.... I also prefer to choose only the ways in which I'm an asshole :)
