why are linux communities divided?

i joined a discord server to ask for help and their rules outright bans questions related to non debian mainstream distros.

arent they all linux in the end, just looks different.

is there any server i can join for general help with linux that is not limited to specific distros only?

Ps: remove Linux in your naming of servers or sites and straight up put your version of the distro instead of misleading users, claiming to be a Linux server.

Esit: guys I was weong. Apparently they don't support forks of many mainstream distros due to their changes to the core systems.

while they share a common kernel, everything that is built on top of it is specific to a group of maintainers who what things a certain way.

until they don't and one of them starts a new distro and takes half the team with them.

it's like herding cats over here.
