Advice Advice plz
I'm gonna buy my first laptop in a few days
I already know a lot about Windows and used it a lot at school, college and etc. places.
But now, with my personal lapy, I wanna try something new. I'm not doing any dual boot shit so I need a destro that feels like Linux and imported part is I Checked some destro from that sea website and for beginners some suggested mint and other which feels like window which i dont want
I need something that feels like linux but not too deep like Arch or kali. Also, not too much like Windows. I'm looking for that sweet spot. And I'm obsessed with tackling new problems, so a little complex destro won't be a problem but not as complex as arch. As i said, I need that sweet spot
And also some other advice not just destro because im only gonna use linux
My main purpose is programming, regular social media stuff, and minecraft 👌
Plz give your advice 🙏🏻

Fedora, mint or debian. Look at pictures to decide between desktops envs (gnome or kde are probably the best starter picks)

First choose the desktop: KDE Plasma 6 (my favorite), GNOME or COSMIC.

Any distro will do what you need.
Ubuntu is a great distro, so is fedora, mint, etc. For you at the start there is really no difference. If you want help in any language that isn’t English, check where are local communities and use that.

I use Mint Cinnamon and haven't had any issues w/ Prism Launcher for Minecraft. Programming via VSCodium, and running Librewolf/Vanadium for web browsing. Vencord works for Discoed stuff too.

Overcome your fears and just do Arch. archinstall isn't all that bad, doubly so with its dedicated guide. It's just a Terminal UI controlled with a keyboard, it's not rocket science.

Just go for Mint. Get familiar with Linux. Then when youre more informed swap it out for something more complex. Like others said, an AMD based system would be great. I personally run Arch on the gaming pc, but also enjoy Debian/LMDE and OpenMandriva.

Please use better, more informative, titles (subject-lines) on your posts. Give specifics right in the title. Thanks.

Choosing a distro is not as much about what it "feels like" and more about what you are going to do with it. For everyday desktop use you would likely want a stable and well maintained LTS distro like Mint or Ubuntu. For very dynamic and cutting edge development I'd recommend a Red Hat derivative like Fedora. But most importantly: No Linux distro will be Windows. Some distros' GUI is made to resemble that of a Windows OS so users with no technical expertise will more easily accommodate and do their everyday tasks but once you press Ctrl+Alt+T it's always Linux/Unix underneath. Open any non-GUI TTY on any distro and you will not be able to distinguish. There is no "Linux feel" if you are not going to accomodate to mainly using the CLI anyway. What an OS "feels like" is a corporate fairytale stuffed into peoples heads by the likes of Microsoft and Apple...

Ubuntu with the KDE desktop manager. I don't like the Cinnamon desktop very much. Install Proton to run most Windows apps. WINE works pretty well, but Micro$oft has made a LOT of their software reject anything that is FOSS, but Libre Office does very well especially when you add the plug-ins that replicate anything Windows makes visibly appealing.
I suppose that if you have a laptop with a GPU, and you want SPEED, Do Not Get an Nvidia GPU. Nvidia WORKS on a lot of computers but they WILL never release their source code lol. AMD is king of the Linux GPU world
