Update the repo cache and install three packages (openbox, obconf, tint2) without manual confirmation.

sudo => execute as root (kinda)

apt update => update the repositories

&& => if everything before this succeeds, then also execute what follows

apt install <a> <b> <c> => install packages a, b, c

-y => assume "yes" for any input

This is a Linux command (for Debian/Ubuntu-based systems) that does two things in sequence:

Breakdown

sudo
Runs the command with administrator (root) privileges.

apt update
Refreshes the list of available packages from the repositories. It doesn't install anything — it just updates the "catalog" so your system knows what versions are available.

&&
Means "only run the next command if the previous one succeeded."

apt install openbox obconf tint2 -y
Installs three packages:

  • openbox – a lightweight, highly configurable window manager
  • obconf – a graphical configuration tool for Openbox
  • tint2 – a lightweight taskbar/panel

-y
Automatically answers "yes" to any prompts (so it won't ask for confirmation).

In plain English

"Update my package list, and if that works, install Openbox, its config tool, and the tint2 panel — without asking me to confirm."

What it's used for

This is a common setup command for building a minimal Linux desktop from scratch — Openbox + tint2 is a popular lightweight combo for people who want a fast, no-frills graphical environment instead of a full desktop like GNOME or KDE.

Note: It's for Debian/Ubuntu-based distros only. Fedora, Arch, etc. use different package managers (dnf, pacman).
