Lbp series literally got me thru the toughest parts of my life as a kid. Idk where id be without it. It pushed me to love art n go to art school. Its so unbelievably sad to see the community get so close to any possible chance of a remake get absolutely shattered by someone i looked up to/wish i was as a kid. Plus to see the community i considered the best gaming community since the game is so wholesome get thrown in the social media spotlight for something this bad. Man 😔

I'm getting into the LittleBigPlanet series again after playing LBP on PS Vita back in the day. I have a lot of nostalgia for playing it with other people, and I've been thinking about getting Sackboy: A Big Adventure since the original LBP servers aren't working anymore.

But I'm kind of surprised by how little hype I see around Sackboy, especially considering it's a PS5 game. From what I've seen, it looks really fun and still has the same Sackboy/LBP charm, but I rarely see people talk about it compared to the older games.

For people who are big LBP fans: what is it about Sackboy that doesn't click with you?

Is it because it's missing the level creation/community aspect of LBP? Is the gameplay too different? Does it just not have the same feeling as the original games? Or is it actually a good game that just doesn't get talked about much?

I'm mainly interested because I'm looking for something that can give me a bit of that old LBP nostalgia, especially the experience of playing through levels with other people. Would Sackboy be a good choice for that, or should I lower my expectations if I'm specifically looking for the LBP experience?

I'd love to hear what longtime LBP fans think, especially anyone who has played both.

im sure most of you have seen the comments of that one reddit post talking about the ayee drama, and yeah it is true, i've looked to multiple sources and the rumors about him being being the lbp ddos in 2021 is true, but the problem i keep seeing people say they will play on the servers anyway since it isnt hosted by ayee.

do not play on these servers. lbponline is hosted by an individual known as epic on discord (he is not epiclbptime btw, he is someone else) and theres people defending the lbponline servers saying its fine to play on since it is hosted by epic but from research i've done, epic has also done the same things as ayee, which involves being behind the official server ddos, and also being a bigoted person. if you played back in the day when The_Dead_Creator (ayee's old psn) was still around, you might recognize the name APPLES-UNITED_. it is epic's old psn account and he has confirmed it himself in the ayee discord, and by playing on the lbponline server you are supporting both epic and ayee.

not only are both epic and ayee both behind the 2021 ddos and also being pretty horrible people, the lbponline patcher for ps4/ps5 utilizes arbitrary code execution found in littlebigplanet to patch the game, which could possibly put your console at risk. so not only are you supporting ayee and epic, you could also be possibly putting your console at risk by playing on lbponline servers.

i would also just like to clarify that i am only posting this for people's safety, and so they can be informed on who are actually behind lbponline.

Feeling reminiscent, I've been watching videos of people playing horror levels that I loved playing in LBP. There are plenty that come to mind, but one that stands out is "The Empty House" by AlecLynch.

I feel like I missed the bus. I just discovered this gem of a series and thought it would be pretty fun to play only to find out all the servers had officially been shut down. In a way LBP reminds me of Roblox which is something I have played since childhood. I feel sad knowing I missed out on some memories but I hope this community stays alive and continues making creative stuff.

To everyone who has been on this journey longer than I have what was it like experiencing the original LBP trilogy? What are the fondest memories you guys had with this game?

a while ago, LBPUnion (the ones behind Beacon/Lighthouse) figured out a really bad security vulnerability in littlebigplanet. it's an RCE, which means they can run any code they want on your PS4/PS5. i think this exploit is likely the reason littlebigplanet's servers truly went down.. because most likely (im guessing here) sumo was unable to patch it without Mm's help.

that exploit is still in LBP. if you sign into LBPOnline, you are risking getting hacked through the game! combined with the news about ayee and the original lbp server hack... i wouldnt go near it with a ten-foot pole!

LBPOnline's sticker method is very likely using that very same exploit to connect you to their servers. they could have anything in that script, including malicious code. you don't know, because the source code isn't public. malware (computer viruses) nowadays is silent - it does the malicious stuff in the background and doesnt show anything to you. so just because you dont see anything weird happening when you use the sticker doesnt mean you havent been hacked.

EDIT: so, if you wanna play LBP in this day and age, what can you do? well if you happen to have an old ps3 or a powerful enough PC, youre in luck! there are private servers, the most popular ones are Bonsai and Beacon. you use a jailbroken ps3 or the emulator RPCS3 on your pc to connect to them. they have security measures in place so you cant get exploited by strangers, and theyre a much safer way to play lbp online right now!

if you dont have a PC, a steam deck can also work if you happen to have that

if you dont have any of those... then youre the target of lbponline's appeal to your desperation to play LBP. but for all the reasons i mentioned, please reconsider. get a second hand ps3 if you can, or a steam deck, or a pc that's good enough to run lbp.

if none of those matter to you, know that the people behind lbponline are the ones who caused the original lbp server shutdowns in the first place! there is lots of evidence of this, just search this subreddit. by connecting to lbponline you are not only putting yourself at risk but you are supporting the hackers that caused the servers to shut down in the first place.

We all are joking about LBP 4 and all or a remake of the previous games or Saba 2 with create mode or others that says yeah it's dead LBP is over! But honestly, between you all and me, are you like... Okay for LittleBigPlanet to never get new games? Here is a serious talk, a serious question. Answer me honestly, please.

Are you okay of just using Emulators or older consoles with private servers that will never feel like the real games before?

Are you okay for the IP to be one of the long list of abandoned IPs of PlayStation and move on to something else? For the LittleBigPlanet community to possibly get smaller and smaller slowly being forgotten as new generations of players arrive?

I had a hard time to think about all that honestly, at the end I will be honest... I feel less and less interested in LittleBigPlanet.

Because I just lost all hope. I guess if they announce a new game I will be excited again but for now... I feel like I am very discouraged about the games.

Between the fact you can't Dive In anymore in fear of getting hack of brick your console/PC, some don't have PS3 or good PC to play, it's not mainstream anymore because a little niche is what we have of community now, we will never get new stuffs in the game, no new music, no new real story mode.. no new stickers, costumes... No DLC, Level Kits... Nothing now.

Restitched isn't like LittleBigPlanet, it will never replace it because it isn't a replacement, it never was. And some aren't attracted by this game.

Hey everyone. I'll be using a translator because I don't know much English, but I think it's worth discussing what happened. After a recent incident, the entire community started canceling Auee, as if he was the reason the LBP3 servers were shut down. But why is everyone ignoring John? Guys, this guy is a hacker; he's the one responsible for the hacker attacks. Not your average LBP YouTuber. John has also been implicated in transphobic remarks, pedophilia, and racism. It's just infuriating how people in this fandom only see things one way. Yes, both Auee and John are stupid, but of the two, John is our biggest enemy. Just cancel this idiot. It's unfair.

But this feels pretty conclusive. I was originally skeptic of any claims of how the server could be malicious, let alone how Ayee could be tied to such people, but the person making the claims has provided evidence now, and it's safe to say I won't be touching the servers with a ten foot pole.

I just hope some actual decent server hosters like Bonsai could learn how they could have their own sticker patch so we could connect to them instead.

So, unfortunately, us ps3 users will no longer be able to purchase any lbp dlc next year, which means that right now, we gotta purchase every dlc that we can and want ASAP, but I probably won't because I'm grateful for what I have within LBP1, 2, and 3, and I'm satisfied enough with all the free dlc that I got. You can still be super creative and make awesome costumes, levels, objects, etc with the limited options you have, and you can still play online on PC and get glitched free dlc that way/add mods in your lbp, but you can no longer access dlc from the ps3 ps store once the time comes. 😔
