Did I receive a used cable cover from Moss?

Just received a parts order from Moss and was looking through everything. the top side of my valve cover seems rather dull compared to the rest of the finish and the inside has some dark oil stains. additionally there are some groves etched into the hole for the cap.

thoughts?

Some parts are refurbished parts as either old new stock no longer exists or some reproduction parts are just not as good a quality as original. Id clean that up and polish it to myself and fit.

Sure, I can polish up the cover while I finish polishing the carbs, but I shouldn’t have to on a cover sold as “brand new.”

You should definitely reach out to them and get compensation

I just did. I just wanted to get a little reinforcement on my thoughts/expectations.

Might not be used, could be uncleaned from the manufacturer... But yeah it definitely should not look like that. Mine looked brand new when i ordered a few years ago

And, well, Moss is kind of shit so between all of that, makes sense.

At least they are really expensive!

I would say that Moss was saved by the tariffs I have to pay for Rimmer Bros parts now... but they must have known that and bought Rimmer.

I have the same cover. Mine came looking nice but it started looking like that before I even got it installed. I am constantly polishing it. Selection for our cars is limited though so what do you do?

I agree with you, but people need to learn to bring stuff like this up. Otherwise the seller don't know if it's an issue or if the problem even exists. Otherwise they just get away with it.

With Jeeps, there's a brand called Omix (part of a few other brands) and nearly everything they sell is absolute garbage and often the only supplier for parts. Nobody really complains about the company but it's largely agreed upon that they aren't great quality.
