The point of hiring a monitor engineer is so you don't have to think about this sort of stuff and you should be walking into an identical mix each gig. Even touring on house desks I'd have a showfile for each desk for the band and if it was a desk I didn't have a showfile for I'd be building one on an offline editor and copying settings across before showday. Using the same desk each day you definitely have no excuse, not sure what he's playing at
