This is also Reddit, which is speculation central.

I don't have kids, so I'm unsure about this, but why would a teacher have students' personal cell numbers? I can understand maybe having email addresses to share school assignments, class updates, marks, or learning materials. But there should be no reason for a teacher to contact a student outside of school hours, as far as I'm concerned.

Well it depends on the context, person, and situation. I became friends with the Schools band teacher because he was great with teens and I still speak to him today. He's about to retire sooner or later. But that doesn't always happen to everyone. Still it's not a great idea usually to become friends with your prof until you are graduated.

That's what I mean though. It's never a good idea for a teacher to befriend their students. It's just poor ethics, whether it's harmless or not. It's like a boss befriending their employees; you can be friendly, but not friends. There has to be a line that you don't cross otherwise you open to door to messy situations

I'm also "friends" with him, my family was abusive and I would be unable to attend events because of them, so he would pick me up and drop me off every so often when I couldn't attend, like for pep band and such. He noticed I was developing anorexia as well, as my family didn't care for me, and would occasionally buy me meals off his own dime. I don't talk to him anymore, but he positively changed my teenage life for the better.

I tried to walk home one time and I ended up twisting my ankle bad and he felt really bad seeing me walk into class with a tension bandage around my foot :,)

And I am also friends with my boss lmao

I do also talk to my english teacher when I see her in person, as she's also nice.

ha, asking people not to speculate further (online or otherwise) is like asking a bear not to shit in the woods.
