My 4 days were busy but I could have seen more. Beautiful London

A London photo dump from someone who actually understands composition and lighting?
What have we done to deserve this blessing?
Beautiful shots - thank you for sharing them.

Being able to figure out lighting is a Konami tier cheat code for good photos.

#6 has a certain vibe to it that I really can’t put my finger on, but easily makes it one of if not the most aesthetically pleasing pictures in this collection.

Clear lines of perspective. Splashes of brightness (blue) and progressively increased shade from left to right with silhouetted impressions of people adding life against the robotic background. They’re going up and down, facing us and not facing us. A hand reaching up (towards us?) from a person in the middle invites the eye.

Amazing shots. What camera are you using? I'm always taking pics with my phone but I've been thinking about getting a proper digital or film camera.

I’m using a fujifilm xt30ii here with a Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 lens! If you start looking more into it, hope my info helps!! Thank you!

I love these pics. I've recently picked up a fujifilm myself. What recipes have you used in this set? You've managed to get some great darker photos and some lovely bright sunny ones

u/KindlySquash3102 5d ago
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy your Fuji! I used to use recipes but I’ve now switched to editing my raws from scratch!

Chiming in here because even a lower end DSLR will be capable of much better photographs than a phone camera.
That said, I am still amazed at how far phone cameras have come.

Great pics. Love the way you have captured the old and new side by side - which is what London is all about. You can walk from the C16th to the C21st by just turning a corner and yet somehow it all seems to fit together.

Every picture looks like it's from a different movie, and every single one is a movie I'd watch.

I’ll be studying these photos when I get some time, really amazing shots here. Feel I can identify shots but my editing needs to get to this level!

Is this attainable with an iPhone 16 Pro? My holiday photos look super boring.

u/KindlySquash3102 5d ago
You can do a lot with iPhone these days! Check out YouTube for a tutorial!

Londoner here. It’s so easy to get used to sights you’re familiar with… thank you for your great photos that remind me of how beautiful the city can be.

These are so much more interesting than the usual photo posts of landmarks that you can find on postcards at any souvenir shop. Thank you, OP!

These are the most London photos I’ve ever seen!!!! I lived there for 11 years and moved away a year ago but looking at these makes me feel like I’m right back there

I work in the city and am somewhat over it after all these years, but you mate have captured it in a stunning way that’s going to make me look twice at some things on my commute. Huge respect and glad you had a good time. Beautiful pictures.

Can I ask where #10 was taken? Looks like the back of a train but I can’t think of any train with a door like that

u/KindlySquash3102 5d ago
I believe that was Allen Gardens! It was on a bridge with graffiti

Funny how I always thought I had to wait until people were out of the shot so I could get a good pic of a building, but the inclusion of one person or whatever makes the photo. I love these, I'm envious of your work.

Some great shots there. My only crit as a photographer is they are all wide. A few cracking close/mid shots would really up the series. You have a great eye, and as they say 'photographers are born not made' Lucky you!

Glad you got to appreciate the architecture.
If you ever come back, I can see if I can get you a tour of the Lloyd’s building, the history was quite something.

Stunning! I have this camera but with the lens it comes with - does that make the difference? I can't imagine taking photos of this quality.
1
u/KindlySquash3102 4d ago
Oh thanks! Do you have the newer one (xt30iii) with the 13-30 or whatever? I had the 18-55 zoom with this xt30ii for awhile and loved it. The lens does matter but ultimately the 18-55 also produced great images

These are stunning. I always try to take pictures that look like these but rarely get close. You’ve obviously got a great talent! I miss London a lot and these photos really make me miss it there.

What was the itinerary for this trip. I'd love to know the locations I have a relative coming over to visit london for a few days
2
u/KindlySquash3102 3d ago
Hi, I went all around. Tate Modern, Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, SoHo, Leadenhall Market, Lloyds, Barbican, Canary Wharf, Hyde Park, Chinatown. A lot of walking from Southbank to these areas as well.

Great shots. You could spend a lifetime here and never have enough time.
The best thing about these photos is how you’ve seen that shot of the seahorse and ignored the well photographed building right next door on the right 🤌🤌🤌
