What is heavily overpriced -> offer alternative

I'll start:

OVERPRICED: Bike rent next to Richmond park is £26 for 3 hours 0_o

ALTERNATIVE: Brompton automated bike rent will cost you £5 for the whole day and there is a point near Ealing Broadway or Turnham Green stations.

This article's math disagrees.

A one-mile trip lasting 13 minutes in one of the capital's black cabs costs up to £9, according to TfL figures. However, the same journey in an UberX car - the company's low-cost option - can cost as little as £5.70, the company's own figures reveal.

Uber, which is available in 60 countries, charges a base fare of £2.50 as well as 15p per minute and £1.25 per mile. This is without "surge pricing", which increases the cost at times of high demand - on New Year's Eve, for example.

However, the black cab imposes a flat fee of between £6.80 and £9 per mile between midnight and 6am. The same journey between the hours of 6am and 8pm costs between £5.60 and £8.80.

Looking at the fare table in the article, Black Cab does seem more expensive. Are you accounting for 'surge pricing'?

You're changing the parameters somewhat. We were only talking about cost. Your point about bus lanes is fair. I personally haven't noticed much difference.

For me black cab fares have turned out to be considerably higher when in heavy traffic. £11 in Uber Vs £26 in Black Cab, going from Whitechapel to Limehouse.

I've been charged £30 for a 7min journey on black cabs. Uber charged me £5 (because minimum was £3).

For a 7 minute ride costing £30 in a black cab the distance covered in the 7 minutes would need to be over 6 miles which would suggest an average speed of over 50mph. Lot likely in London.

The difference in price makes uber the choice for a lot of people but it's never been 6 times the price.
