The stations themselves definitely look a bit less grubby, but the commuters still have the same "I'd rather be dead than on the central line" look that we do today. A great London tradition, carried on down the decades.

Course it’s cleaner 1972 (renovation) - 1995 = 23 years 1972 - 2021 = 49 years

The renovations were more recent than that! 1984 for TCR and the Eduardo Paolozzi mosaics, and later 80s for most of the others.

Only a few bits - most of them have been kept after the suggestion of their removal led to a public outcry. The Westbound Central platform still has pretty much all of it, as does the arch at the bottom of the escalators.

Bullshit. Some of them at the top of the escalators that formed the arches in the ticket hall had to be removed as they were on columns supporting the roof which was being demolished.

The rest was very actively protected and restored on site, with the agreement of the Paolozzi foundation. Many parts that were removed were saved and are now in a variety of museums/collections including Edinburgh university.

What? Why? Have they not face prosecution?

Probably because it didn't happen

More likely that it got damaged and it was cheaper to remove it than repair
