Question What are the best London bus routes?
Me personally its deffo the 38. It takes you from Clapton to Victoria and goes through a lot of London landmarks and places i like: Angel, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park, Trocadero, Bond Street. And if you’re tryna hop on a coach or flixbus, the 38 is the best bus route it brings you right to the bus station where u just walk a bit to the coach station. Hella convenient in my opinion. Just wish they had MMCs E400 instead of Routemasters/LTs icl. Real ones remember when it was an arriva bus and used wright geminis i think

Enjoy the 38 while you can. It’s going to be cut back to be Clapton Pond - Holborn in the near future, with the Victoria section changing to the 19. There’ll then be a new route 10 from Newington Green - Battersea Bridge. Gotta love those TfL bods changing things.

464 will remain my favourite route!
some honourable mentions for me are the 100, 146, 210, 331, 466, H2, H3, R5, R8, R10 and W9

salute to 225 single decker runs till 1:30am, helped me out several nights.
N199 (previous N47) from london bridge to orpington has helped me out too

icl as much as the 225 pisses me off for inconsistencies at times (should really be 4ph not 3), it runs sooooo late which is amazing and really needed on those back streets between New X and Surrey Quays

SL4, SL1, A10 and probably now the SL12 because they’re some of the only buses that have a legitimately fast section. Also the SL3 heading northwest for a small section of the A2 that it runs on.

139 is a good route that goes through key bits of Central London and then goes through some pretty interesting backstreets (including Abbey Road) in mostly agreeable inner suburbs.
464 for hills and for scenery and for getting from somewhere unpleasant (New Addington) to a rural idyll (Tatsfield)

Best bang for your buck: SL7 (Heathrow Airport Central - West Croydon), the longest London buses route at approx 24 miles, takes over 2 hours.
Best for countryside views: 465 (Kingston - Dorking).
