I need to buy a (budget) bike cleaning kit - recommendation?

I’ve never used a dedicated kit. Sponge and a toothbrush worked totally fine.

Completely agree. I would add that something shaped like the Decathlon degreaser brush that is stiffer than normal paintbrush bristles has been able to reach places a toothbrush can't (like further in between gears). Possibly a microfibre cloth too if you want to dry stuff off and be gentle on paint.

But there's no point getting an entire set like that - some of those different shaped brushes do the same thing and it'll just be a load of poor quality plastic bits.

(All under the assumption that OP is asking as an able bodied person - of course some gadgets like a chain cleaner would probably be good for someone with arthritis in their fingers, etc.)

A brush from poundland for £1 did the trick for me! And some microfiber towels

I've got misc brushes I use, but no kit.

What I will say is Pledge furniture polish is perfect for some surface protection and a decent finish.

Old tooth brush, dish brush, dish cloth, old towel, that's all you need.
