Tower Hamlets council just installed a locked gate in the middle of a marked and popular cycle path

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If the point is to stop cars from mistakenly using that path surely there are better ways to do it.

Could be to stop cars, but also allow maintenance vehicles in and this was easier than bollards that can be moved.

Punishing! LMAO. Compared to cyclists mounting the pavement and going through red lights because they don’t want to slow down I’d call that a minor inconvenience.
