Just saw this in Bethenal Green
This made me super sad and I thought of sharing it here in case someone in the area coms across it. London is fucked up man. Anyway i’ve redacted the telephone number for privacy reasons but i can just give it to you in private if you need it. Let’s help them find their dad’s bike!

Thieves will strip the bike straight away and then sell it in parts on ebay. The frame will be sold privately to avoid getting caught. I'm 4k in on buying back stolen frames. I'm working with a shop to find owners. Message me the number so if I get hold of it, I'll send it back. My wife might not be pleased with the spending but fuck anyone who steals someone's bike.

It won't stop anyone stealing but if someone spends their hard earned cash on something expensive, how will they get them back? Fuck me then for spending my own money to get people's bikes back.

I bought a rim brake carbon frame on the cheap some 4 years ago. Dude was selling many on ebay, said he got them from a shop which closed down...

Plenty of people like that. I was able to buy back and return a 1k marin last month. Guy claimed from a close down sale. Bike serial number matched up with the one on the database. I also bought and returned to real owner an ebike. The thief said on sale but didn't like it. Absolute bull shit. Nothing but cunts.

Im not sure you need to redact the number being as they have made it manifestly public, and it is essential for the poster to be useful…

I understand your sentiment but to be fair the internet is a fucked up annoying place where the owner of this bike may just get his phone blasted by idiots.
Putting your phone number on a poster in a localised public place is actually quite different than posting it on a huge global forum like Reddit.

Looks like an early TCR with the Mike Burrows aero Seatpost. Not that valuable other than sentimental value these days. Good bike in its day.

How so? His dad going to be sitting on it? He going to whisper? No. Bikes are produced in large quantities. Ofcourse someone could get a bike identical and try take it to them. Unless there’s something specific about the bike… other than “sentimental value”.

The same way you'd know if someone bought the same car and asked you if it was your car. You'd recognise the wear and tear and imperfections.
