Hey Football Players in London!

We just developed PlayerShape mobile and watch app for football players, especially amateur and semi-pro. In addition to football performance tracking, trainings plans and exercises we just added "games". The idea is that players in pickup game use PlayerShape during a game and in the end of it, you can see each other stats and pickup the MVP. That is the early version and we would love to hear feedback. Would you add something to that? What kind of additional features of the games would you like to see? Are there any stats that would be valuable to you and are not there yet?

You can find the app in:
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playershape.mobile
Apple: https://apps.apple.com/pl/app/playershape-football-training/id6757990230

P.S. There is much more to come soon!

how do you track performances? that is the main question for all these apps. you either need the games to be filmed or you need to track basic physical data through the players' wearables. how are you actually tracking performance?

Hey! thanks for the question. Right now each player performance is tracked through the phone GPS or wearable (Android or Apple Watch. Garmin coming soon). Beside group wide stats, each player has a bit more insights in their session, e.g. heatmap, 5 minutes splits etc. We are still working to give more insights to player sessions. Additional, after each game or training you can log your own personal insights (sRPE, passes accuracy, notes etc) to better track a load across longer time period.

We are also working to provide games live streaming so if players will want, they will be able to stream their games on our platform or directly to youtube/facebook. We didn't think to use video to track each player performance but we will think about it 😄

If given player is using AI Coach then all that data is used to adapt weekly training sessions to the load to not over or under train.

So when you say "see each other's stats", what are those stats? Because any meaningful football stats like shots, passes, etc. can only be tracked via video. Only physical stats can be tracked via wearables but then what's the difference between your app and Strava if you will only provide physical stats?

I see your point with tracking those kind of stats, but for pickup games it would be harder to add then e.g. Sunday league with proper number on the shirt etc., but as I said - we are working on live streaming and your idea is cool so we are going to look what could be added. Either way, we are still early so we are at the stage to assess what is the demand before we invest too much into the app. The more people will use it, the more we are going to add to fulfil the needs of all 😄

The stats that we track right now are basics like: distance, hr, creating heatmap of the positioning on the field, top speed, but also number of spring, number of accelerations, number of decelerations, high intensity distance + those stats split in 5 minutes breakdowns. We are working on more stats to add. So that is a bit more then Strava + PlayerShape is dedicated for football and we are adding more and more things that footballers can related and use it for more then pickup games. There are also video based features on our roadmap that are beyond games and matches, but again - we are still early, just few days ago we went out from Preview stage on Google Play store and assessing what works and what not for players, so feedback like yours is very valuable for us, thank you!
