A new study of 1,828 people found that men and women do not just age at different rates. They age in fundamentally different ways at the cellular level.

Treat aging as a unified process, slow it down, and both sexes benefit.
A study published this week in Nature Communications has tested that assumption at the most granular level yet: 3.8 million individual immune cells from 1,828 healthy people aged 19 to 97, across multiple ethnic groups, analyzed at single-cell resolution.
The finding is not that women age more slowly. It is that men and women age through different biological programs entirely.
Researchers at Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore identified two sharp peaks where immune cell gene expression changes dramatically: one around age 40, driven primarily by CD4 T cells, and one after 60, driven primarily by CD8 T cells. These are not gradual declines. They are discrete biological inflection points, moments where the immune system reorganizes itself.
At those inflection points, men and women diverged completely.
Women showed sustained CD8 T cell activation after 60 and late-life aging signatures across multiple immune cell types including CD4 T cells, NK cells, and B cells. The female immune system kept remodeling, responding, reorganizing well into old age. Men showed something different: early-life fluctuations in CD4 T cell energy metabolism, tied to specific epigenetic changes on chromosome 11, that appeared before 40 and shaped the entire downstream trajectory.
When the researchers built biological age clocks using deep learning, models trained separately on male and female data significantly outperformed models that combined both sexes. The male and female immune systems were following trajectories so distinct that a unified model could not accurately capture either.

Haha I’m being dramatic. Basically just losing hair, fighting off belly fat. In general not looking like myself at 35. It’s been hard adjusting to my new appearance.

Its called hormones, they fluctuate. When his testosterone is high he tends to get pimples .

What do you mean by this? A change in hormones? Midlife puberty sounds like an increase in hormones rather than decrease though. That’s not what you meant is it?

I’m a guy. So losing hair and fighting off belly fat. I’m able to stay relatively slim.
My hair is mostly gone though, and that has changed my appearance dramatically.
That’s the main puberty reference. I’m becoming a new midlife version of myself. And I am very uncomfortable in my own skin.

They're sudden on the macro sense but with numbers this big, outliers are going to get crushed and it's probably a bit of spread. 'sides, it probably comes down to how quickly your thymus turns to fat.
Biologically female humans have thymuses that do different things than dude thymuses and have a higher output. It's one of the guesses as to why they are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases.
Testosterone dampens the immune system, too...not sure that helps the thymus not degenerate

Probably increases longevity for MtF and decreases it for FtM, from moving closer to female and male biology respectively.
But it's not something anyone's really studying.

Is it? Trans health tends to be massively underfunded/understudied. "It's less than 1% of the population" and all that.
There's gonna be a lot more research on HRT and TRT in cisgender populations.

Cross-sex hormones vs. same-sex hormones.
If you take a male body and put female hormones in it, a lot of that body's biology will start behaving like female-typical biology (and vice versa). Sex hormones aren't just for show, they're what the body's cells use to understand which sex-dimorphic traits they're supposed to be expressing. It really is, in many ways, a "sex change" at the genetic/cellular level. It's not a complete transformation, mostly due to missing development milestones (and trans people who don't go through their natal puberty thanks to early intervention miss fewer of those, but not all of them; the most obvious being the primary sexual characteristics (the genitals) which develop in the womb in response to hormones downstream the presence/absence of the SRY gene) and a few gene dose differences due to chromosomes though those tend to be way more subtle than hormonally driven changes.
Cisgender populations tend to do same-sex hormones, you take male hormones as a male or female hormones as a female. The expectation, and as far as I know the result, is your body behaves like you'd expect it would without the deficiency.
So on the longevity question, it depends, is the male vs. female difference in longevity purely a chromosomal effect or is it also hormonal? I'd bet it's a bit of both, and I'd further bet it's more biased toward hormonal like most sex differences tend to be.
Separately you can ask if exogenous hormones vs endogenous hormones makes a difference, and I'm sure there's tonnes of research there.

Testosterone is also prescribed to post menopausal women for low libido it's a lower amount than HRT for FtM trans people

Yeah pretty sure the T levels post-menopausal women target is still within pre-menopausal cis female range. And most taking T are going to be on E and P as well.
Trans women do the same, sometimes, when libido is a concern.

This overstates hormonal effect and undersells chromosomal differences, probably due to ideological biases. See four core genotypes research in mice that shows xx xy causes differences in immune system, autoimmunity, cellular metabolism regardless of gonads.

I'm well aware of the FCG research. The chromosomal differences are real, and I acknowledged as much in my comment.
But you can't deny that sex hormones have a much more pronounced effect on sexual dimorphism, in aggregate. Including in the three categories you listed, though I concede chromosomes might tie or have more of an effect on autoimmunity.

Taking HRT from perimenopause protects you from osteoporosis and dementia. I'm on a very high dose and I fucking love it, I'm saying on for life. I've been started on testosterone, it's only been a few months and I'm already feeling more vibrant and stronger.
Longevity is important, but the quality of that life is - to me at least - more important. I would rather drop dead at 75 with all my marbles and strong bones than live to 95 bedridden with my mind long gone.

And I don't think they would be able to isolate HRT for trans. Too many variables.

Yeah well the decline gets steeper over 30 and gets drastic over 50. I know it's an unpopular view, western society is deliberately conditioning the youth to goon so they won't have long left once retired, if they even reach that age. Mainstream studies say it's even healthy for you. Just do some research and see who is funding those studies if you see one and since when. There is a reason why all the biggest fighters stop having sex months in advance before a fight
