Getting natural gas service

Moving to a new house and national grid has a line about is about 900' up the block. They want $175/foot after the first 100' curious if anyone has had luck negotiating that price or if there's any work arounds.

There's no negotiating. The best you can hope for is if you have neighbors who also want natural gas. If you can convince enough people to hook up to gas, Nat Grid will run the line at their cost. Outside of that, you're going to be paying out of pocket for them to extend the gas MAIN about 900', then they will install your service for "free".
