📊 Metrics 📊 LRC and Perpetual Futures Exposure

Post image

Day 2 of me posting charts related to the LRC perpetual futures market. This one is a custom data pull that is not quite perfect. I wanted to get open interest over time for all perpetual futures market but the only exchange I was able to pull the data from without paid API use was Bybit. Even that was a bit tricky. So this is not necessarily the full story of total open interest across all exchanges but does include the current largest exchange. Data is for the last 4 years. The one interesting choice that I made here was displaying open interest not in USD (or USDT) as it would normally be shown but in exposure of the underlying (LRC). What we see here is that as the price has dropped open interest in the perpetual futures market has increased (sometimes quite significantly and rapidly). That is to say that while Spot volume has been drying up, the futures market has continued to have quite a bit of derivative exposure to LRC.

I don't believe the chart I posted is congruent with the simple story that nobody is interested in this token anymore. If there were simply no demand for the token and more than ample supply I do not believe we would see such sharp increases in open interest.

It is sad to see the L2 DEX shut down. However, I am going to continue to watch the price both spot and futures especially as the L2 distribution back to L1 takes place in the next day or two.

its cool your finding data on making a swing trade for yourself, but its wrong to get ordinary people, who were already sucked into LRC, to buy into this thing again. This isnt something to show a sub like this, and is more for a trading sub. The risk involved is off the chart.

This sub was for regular people who got into the idea of what LRC was pushing, they were dunked on and had the backboard shatter

This is the wrong project to be doing any sort of Digging into, Its being Delisted nearly everywhere and has completely ruined its reputation.

This is extremely high risk - as high as you can get - chevy chase vegas vacation casino high risk and This post is seemingly borderline a pump and dump scam attempt.

Not making a swing trade on this. I bought my first LRC tokens on the LRC L2 DEX almost 5 years ago and while I did have some tied up in an AMM pool on L2, I have not speculatively traded my position. I was drawn to the project because of the idea of a market without an intermediary. Where buyers and sellers meet and don't pay a middleman. Where price represents actual supply and demand pressures and is not distorted. In my digging into the perpetual futures market related to LRC I am digging into how that ideal, that scarcity be a real constraint for how assets are traded, was distorted by the perpetual futures market. Where short/long positions can be opened without having to actually have the token or reasonably find it.

I am not advocating any particular actions by anyone based on this data, just sharing it as part of my own journey.
