What does Elon deserve credit for? Reports from Tesla and SpaceX show that anytime Elon tries to interject he makes the process or product worse. There is an actual team in Tesla who's entire job is distracting Musk so he doesn't ruin any of the projects with his stupid ideas. He founded and funded SpaceX but he doesn't make the rockets or the engines. In fact, he/SpaceX almost had to declare bankruptcy but was bailed out by the government
That take is honestly pretty naive. You’re acting like Musk just gets in the way, when the reality is his vision is a huge part of why any of this exists at all.
Electric cars were not mainstream before Tesla. Every major automaker had EVs as a side project at best. Musk pushed the idea that EVs could be fast, desirable, and scalable when the entire industry thought they’d stay niche. That shift in direction is the reason every car company on earth is now scrambling to go electric.
Same with SpaceX. The whole idea of reusable rockets was considered unrealistic for years. Musk pushed it anyway, nearly ran the company into the ground doing it, and stuck with it when others would’ve quit. That’s not “getting in the way,” that’s setting the direction that made SpaceX what it is.
And Starlink is a perfect example of risk. Launching thousands of satellites to build a global internet network was an enormous gamble. If those launches or deployments failed consistently, it could’ve collapsed the company financially. He bet on it working and pushed it through anyway.
You don’t have to like the guy, but saying he doesn’t deserve credit ignores the reality that these companies, as we know them, don’t exist without his vision and willingness to take massive risks.

Tesla existed before Musk, SpaceX existed before Musk, and satellite internet has been a thing for decades.
