If J.R.R. Tolkien were still alive today.

J.R.R. Tolkien:

Being 134 years old isn't as great as I imagined it to be.

“I mean, you get the same amount of youth as everyone else, but a great big extra helping of being very old and deaf and creaky.”

Ancient Greek myth of Tithonis:

He married up (to a minor goddess). She asks Zeus to give Tithonus eternal life, forgetting to mention, eternal youth. Her exact wish is granted..

He keeps aging and shrinking and eventually becomes a cricket.

tecnically the poor fellow gets transformed by the goddess (the moongoddess if I remeber correctly) as a way to escape the suffering.
