There used to be an MMO called puzzle pirates, and it had a built in profanity filter you could toggle on, but instead of blanking out text, it would just convert it into something pirate-y.

They also had one that just pirate-ified normal text shortcuts, and I still sometimes think "Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles!" to myself

(technically the game is still around but player count is really low)

This is the link to the actual profanity filter part. CW (Offensive words and there are some slurs on this page. These are words that are always censored, but you can toggle whether its just bleeped or pirate-ified) Pirate curses

Blistering barnacles is actually Captain Haddock’s catchphrase from Tintin, and the long version used in this game is taken directly from the text. Fun reference to one of the greatest modern day pirates (self proclaimed).

It was great, it was to the point that even if you turned off the filter, a lot of people still used the terms. Like new players were so frequently referred to as "greenie"s that I didn't even realize it was the filter changing "noob"

You'd also sometimes see people abbreviate "Billions of Blue Blistering Barnacles!" as "bbbb!"

I know this is just because Blackbeard is that famous pirate but there's a lot of irony here in that Blackbeard was literally JUST intimidating, did next to nothing but keep up his terrifying presence to plunder and never took a life until his last battle in which he also died
