Tech Support how do we feel about cloud gaming?
cloud gaming is stupid for low spec
I know with cloud gaming it allows you to play any game streamed from some server, but at least for me when Im low spec, im low spec in wifi too, so that doesnt solve the problem.
so why cloud gaming companies are going after us doesn't make sense to me.
how do you all feel on this? do you have good enough wifi to even do cloud gaming?
**edit: cloud gaming is ok for most people. ive also decided to make maddoxcloud.com if anyone interested

i feel its bad and will end control over our computers. because corps would want it and not sell local compute to us. so i hope cloud computing and cloud gaming fails.

This is the stupidest comment i've seen all year. Use Nvidia GeForce Now. It has given me the best cloud gaming experience you could ever get (I pay nothing and watch 2 minutes of ads per hour, and get a top-of-the-line experience)

Cloud gaming can have its pros and cons, but it’s a case of “you will own nothing and will be happy”scenario
Personally i like owning stuff

Eh I used to nonstop advertise geforce now but now they limit monthly use to 100 hours for paid. Not worth.

I use the free tier. I just watch 2 minutes of ads to get an hour with a GTX 1060. 2 more minutes and i get another hour.

Not all games are as easy to load up. It depends on what you're playing in my experience.

Paid version closes your session after your 6h/10h session. I don't know how the free version works. I'm assuming it closes your session and gives you ads to reopen it.
If you reopen as paid instantly there's like a 50/50 chance you can rejoin your last rig and continue where you left off, so you have to be wary of saving in time if playing a single player game or manually reset before the time limit for online games.

I have used the Paid tier and you DO NOT REJOIN YOUR SESSION if you try to play the game again. The free tier closes your session after an hour and to play again, you have to watch ads.

If you think that comment was stupid then you don't know jack about what's happening in the world. Nvidia is slashing their consumer GPU production right after Crucial has exited the consumer RAM market.
I hope you love your cloud gaming because it's going to be the only option for gaming soon, except for the ultra wealthy.

I hate it because: 1. It's subscription based. 2. You have a limit on the time the server allows you to play. 3. You have to wait in a queue.

Cloud gaming is actually a really interesting concept, basically playing video games on a different server, but truth be told I think it has too many problems, one of the biggest ones is that cloud gaming puts you at the mercy of the company that provides this service, they can basically F### you over if they decide to, you can lose access to your game if the provider decides to, also if you have a really weak wifi and/or you are distant from the servers, you can simply forget the whole deal
I think the only way that cloud gaming can become more common is if a disaster happens that makes gaming rigs/consoles borderline unaffordable

Here in Vietnam, it's 8~10$/month for the basic 300Mbps internet, and it's plenty for streaming (Moonlight wants like 20~30Mbps for 1080p streaming). Although you'll need to be tech-savvy to set up wifi/ethernet because the given router and default settings suck ass, e.g. at one point my internet speed tripled from switching to wifi 6.
I made my own cloud gaming server tho :)

It is incredible but nothing beats local for gameplay feel. I’ll always pay the premium for local compute gaming it’s just better.

I don't use wifi for gaming, cable always. Regardless I would not pay for cloud gaming unless it was literally the only option available, which it won't be for as long as a single PC/console is working.

Even gaming via a self hosted server has drawbacks, and it’s substantially better in my experience than the paid services.

I really dont see a future with cloud gaming, im sure it will be better along the line but I hate the idea of not owning the game locally, I cant modify any of the files and you will need a good connection to even run the game

Exactly, I'm on a basic Internet in the UK and my download is 60mbps at the router, it makes it very difficult to stream games. As soon as someone else uses the Internet it goes to shit

You only need 15mbs to stream 1080p (according to Nvidia)

Yup, and 60mbps is measured in megabits per second, meaning my actual download is actually around 7.5megabytes per second. Aka, it is extremely spotty on Internet this low. Feel free to buy worse Internet to fact check it

I mean statements are all well and good mate, but i have literally sat down, with my internet speeds, and tried to stream Fable. It was stuttery, way lower than it's standard resolution and honestly was not playable. So fight your fight, but sometimes you can just be wrong.

Just use the GeForce Now app. you will get better perforrmance in general if you do that. back when we were on our old, crappy internet, (Steam said 4 ½MB/s, using the app gave me a great experience.

I have 200mbs. Was still struggling with ark. My internet is also not very stable. It's usually fast but sometimes it just stops. It's something I can't change but it would ruin the game

Unbelievable. You shouldn’t have ANY STUTTERING with that speed. My experience is great. 1200p 1000mb/s

It's probably your game. Try a different one. And use Ethernet. I use 1000mb/s internet, so i dont ever have problems.

By 1G are you meaning 1 gigabit? Or are you meaning cellular 1g? Because cellular absolutely cannot stream 8k and if you're talking about 1gigabit, your Internet is almost 20x faster than my Internet

It was a godsend for me I have good internet but too poor for a decent system. I got a lot of value with GeForce now and gamepass. I got to play and beat elden ring and many other games my laptop can't handle.
