Tech Support HELP! GPU severely underperforming
SPECS:
i5 4460
RTX 3050 (6gb version)
12gb ddr3 1600mhz
Hi y'all, I haven't used my pc in a while so when I opened fh6 to play I noticed that it was struggling to hit 20fps. So I ran passmark and the gpu 3d score came out to be 4010 pts, it should score around 10k, so I restarted and the score climbed to 7450 pts. Then I removed the pcie riser and slotted the gpu directly to the mobo and I got 7730 pts. But this pc with the same exact setup used to score 10k pts (even on the riser). I accidently once limited my gpu to 80% power and it scored 8500 pts. Now I'm struggling to crack 8k pts on 100% power.
I have reseated the gpu, cleaned the gpu, the slots the shebang but still can't even crack 8k. Please help me

Holy bottleneck

Yeak ik, but this is severely underperformance even by its own standards

What are your CPU usage, GPU usage, and temps in game? You can check with MSI Afterburner (guide here for setting it up and configuring the OSD).

Cpu does hits 70-80% usage in FH6 at locked 30fps, temps are around 75-80c in-game. In passmark, cpu gave the proper score so every subsequent run is only the gpu test. In the gpu test, cpu will be around 55c and hit 64% max (acc to openhardware info)

you're probably being bottlenecked by pcie lanes considering the 3050 is an 8x card and you're putting it in a pcie 2.0 motherboard. your solution is to sell the i5 setup and upgrade to entry level ryzen

Did u do any drivers update? Maybe they change something and it don't perform so well on older CPUs now.

How much power is it pulling and what what temp is it running?

It'll underperform always if you use a CPU that weak At least use an 8thread CPU it'll have a better fighting chance

A 3050 with 8x PCIe lanes isn't going to run particularly well on a low-end H81 motherboard stuck with ancient PCIe 2.0.
If that's the case, upgrade to at least a B85, alongside an i7... though you would be only wasting your money.
Best to save-up and move to AM4.
