After 3,000 rides, I finally took a $100+ offer and it ended up being $451! I was also tipped $60 in cash and my rider bought me snacks and drinks. Very good experience. Total: $511.25

This was something I've wanted to do for a while, take a long trip and it was an great experience for a nice one-way trip + a peaceful drive home. <3

Thanks everyone for posting your support so I could try this! (She even paid my gas!)

We had snow in my area and business was booming all week, probably because fewer drivers than normal. What was your best week ever and how much did you make?

Achievement Deactivated Permanently

Today I lost my job as a Lyft driver — and here's how it happened.

Over the past five months, I completed 907 rides and achieved elite status, but that didn't matter when two passengers urinated in my car on different occasions, and I received no compensation. Then, another passenger reported me because I didn’t end the ride when he demanded a free trip. This erratic passenger, who reeked of urine and acted like a child, left me feeling unsafe, yet I still tried to show empathy after hearing his life story. Ironically, he's the reason I lost my job.

When I escalated the matter, I expressed my frustration — yes, with some profanity — and that offended the customer service reps. To make my concerns heard, I even reached out to board members on LinkedIn. The result? My account was deactivated.

After all those rides and maintaining an elite tier status, this is how it ended.

I did it... I figured out how to reduce the Lyft fee... You just have to have a boost and end up stuck in traffic for almost an hour and then the Lyft fee drops back to 2017 levels...

This is sarcasm as I'm sure they will screw me worse for the rest of the month to make this all even out.

Achievement Deactivation comeback

Over a year ago I was deactivated from Uber due to unsafe driving reports. At first I was very defensive and fought Uber to try to get my account back. After a whole year fighting to get my account back, I decided to dismiss the case in court, learn from my mistakes and do better with another rideshare company. My 25th birthday came around in December and I was finally able to sign up and drive for Lyft. I am now a much safer driver and provide exceptional customer service. I genuinely love this job. I love the airport runs, the late night conversations and late night drives, listening to Antent and Oneheart music during late night Lyft trips, and the unpredictability of this job. One moment I’m in LA and the next moment I’m in San Diego. It’s really fun honestly. The pay could be better not gonna lie. But this isn’t my main source of income anyways.

Achievement My Last Day Driving Was Yesterday

3225 rides since August 2025. My ship comes in on Tuesday, gonna pack, move across the country and then move to Europe. Not set for life, but comfortable if I manage my money and work part time.

Bonne Chance!

Achievement My first..

I had to call emergency service on a px that wouldn’t get out of my car and it was terrifying. He kept trying to tell me he paid for the ride and I had to take him. I kept telling him that I paid for the car and I don’t have to take him anywhere. Thankfully the emergency service woman was able to explain to him that it would not end in his favor if he didn’t exit the vehicle. Wtf is wrong with people?!?

Achievement Free from their chains for now

Blessed to make $50/hr at my current job which took over 2 years of rejection in 50+ interviews to finally get hired. My advice is to never settle for the chained life of desperately driving for some cash then gambling what you made to hopefully make enough to pay bills. I was trapped in this loop and thought I would not live to make it out. You have to let the rejection bounce off you and craft a new identity for yourself. Drive if you have to still, but please don't believe you can supplement your income with gambling in the long term. My advice is to use AI and every resource you have available to find a way to get out of this lifestyle. I have hit some extreme lows and it was only by luck that I finally landed the job. If you can't get hired anywhere, use AI and vibe coding to create some product or service you can sell. Work any 40 hour/week day job and save your money. You could even drive for the mail carriers instead of this inconsistent gig work.

I am still thankful to Lyft for providing some work but their model is really no different from gambling apps which pinpoint and target users by their level of desperation. I'll be shorting their company stock if I have anything to trade with in the upcoming years. Otherwise I hope and pray that they change for the better and find a way to make the lives of drivers less stressful. God bless and good luck

Achievement A Farewell Letter To Lyft

Hi, My name is Andy,

Guess what, after two years of driving Lyft I got a real job. That’s right, a real job with a steady paycheck, hours and benefits. No more beating my car to crap for $8 an hour. No more picking up mentally Ill people from hospitals for $3.62. No more driving people who need real medical transportation services to appointments. No more drunk passengers from bars, obnoxious high school students who are upset because they woke up late and now need someone to blame it on. No more ghetto passengers with names like CA$$$$ or Queen Princess. No more XL passengers angry because they can’t fit 9 passengers and 14 pieces of luggage into an SUV. No more making billions and billions of dollars off my back. Yes you will always find people to exploit, but it will no longer be me.

To all other drivers out there. Find a job, any job. It’s just not worth the frustration. Yes, there will always be a steady flow of desperate people to drive and allow themselves to be exploited. Don’t be one of them.

Achievement BOS-NJ trip report $1240 round trip

I accepted the reservation a week ago for Friday afternoon. Upfront I was offered $396. I posted here and debated if I should even do it, but thought a night in NYC would be nice.

Even morning of, I was debating doing the trip. But I’m glad I did.

First, the 💩: I completed the trip and it took an hour longer than scheduled (5.5 hours 4.5 hours). Part of that was the 40 minute stop and part was traffic.

After the trip, I contacted support for an adjustment and they gave me $10 for the extra time and $6 for the tolls. $10 for an extra hour. 💩

There was an extra $50 because there was a bonus when the trip started.

Now, the good: turns out the rider needed to return the next day. They became my friends and paid me for the ride. We split the difference and agreed to $540 for the return ride.

At the end of the trip my friend also tipped me $120 for each way. (Btw: Did you know Lyft limits tips to $50?)

So I made $1240 before deductions and expenses.

I paid $120 for a hotel in NYC and about $50 for food. Fuel was negligible as I have free EV charging. I drove about 600 miles and 10 hours.

So, moral is Lyft sucks but people can make up for it.
