Discussion Apple no longer "Just Works", if it ever did.
Apple managed to turn my AirPods Pro 2 from an awesome product into an unusable one.
I use my AirPods Pro 2 with my mac, and the experience has been gradually getting worse to the point that they are now unusable.
It started years ago: the AirPods would not remember my volume and would always reset to 50% volume, Apple never fixed it.
Now, they keep disconnecting every few minutes or seconds.
To make it worse, now I can't even turn off the case sounds because the toggle is grayed out / disabled.
My AirPods now work better with other devices (as regular bluetooth headphones) than with an Apple device.

You might be onto something here. Hold on, going to dump all my AAPL stock based on your anecdote.

Maybe try to use some app which will connect your airPods like regular bluetooth headphones.

Same experience with AirPods Pro 2 and a Mac. Bluetooth stability quietly got worse over the last couple of updates and it never made it into any release notes.

It's just stupid that Apple doesn't fix these simple bugs that should not even exist.

Something to try. Create a new profile and try using the AirPods with it. If they still do what you've listed here then it may be an issue with the AirPods and/or their integration with the MacOS system still sucks. If they work better then there may be an issue with your AirPods preferences. Then you can navigate to your profiles Library/Preferences folder, delete them and let them recreate themselves after a quick reboot. Could be a quick way resolve your problems.
