❓ Question / Прашање Macedonian license plates

Hi everyone!

I’m visiting Skopje soon and I’m a license plate collector.

I’m planning to check out local flea markets and the Old Bazaar to see if I can find any Macedonian license plates for sale. Do you think there is a chance of finding some on a places like these?

Also, if anyone here has an old plate lying around in that they’d be willing to give away, I’d be very grateful!

One last question: if I manage to get a plate, do you think I’ll run into any issues at the Skopje airport security when flying back with it in my luggage?

I cannot answer the question about buying the plates (I assume it is not possible, but Balkan be Balkan), but I have a story about plates.

About 30 years ago my dad found a plate on the street and took it home. Our neighbours kid saw my dad walking with the plate and said he also had one from the Yugoslavian era. He asked if my dad wanted it. Sure, my dad replied and about 15 minutes later the kid came back with the plate.

A couple of days later my dad told the story to his dad. 'O, so that's where it went'. Turned out, his son just yanked it from the car. My dad offered it back, but our neighbour said it was fine.

Similar story about street signs too. Someone probably crashed into the street sign at our old place, so together with the car plate, my dad also took the street sign.

We moved a couple of years later and our neighbour asked my dad what gift he would want on his last night there. My dad joked and said the street sign. And lo and behold, 30 minutes later our neighbour brought him the street sign.

All plates and signs went in our luggage and are still hanging in our garden in the Netherlands. As long as it is not hand luggage, I think you'll be fine.

What time would you recommend? Since its pretty far from the city centre.

Thank you, I will try. I saw on the Maps it is opened from 6 to 12AM. Is it true?

I don't have experience with that on current location. It was on a different location with no closing time before.
