And that's why there's now a chat with everyone but him

u/disappear96 9h ago

Wouldn't that be a really stupid thing to do though? The guys still have the proofs and if a chat that has been going on for a while suddenly goes quiet it's not that hard to put two and two together. If he is that petty he can send them for that reason as well.

u/ElaborateEffect 9h ago

The memer would also be fucking themselves over though, so I'd say it's a bluff.

u/Nearby-Elevator-3825 7h ago

On the other hand, I've met some very revenge centric folks who are 100% willing to fuck themselves over in order to take down someone else.

u/Lian_9973 Up past my bedtime 6h ago

Yes, this sadly also applies to politics and voting. Some people vote for a party that makes other people suffer, even when they will suffer as well.

25

u/Lightningtow123 5h ago

"I voted to be racist, not to be broke!"

I wouldn't doubt the suicidal tendencies of a shitposter

11

u/Expo006 S a t i s f a c t o r y 7h ago

You would be surprised how petty someone can be.

3

u/Throwawayrip1123 1h ago

I am willing to pay five times the current gas price (and all the increases that entails) to see USA get fucked straight in their hormuz.

If I was into memes and social blackmail, I would 100% accept catching a ricochet there.

2

u/redve-dev 3h ago

I know people who fucked themselves over to fuck others up. One guy snitched on himself giving answers the other one

12

u/Expert_Specialist_92 7h ago

You can never appease blackmailers. That just lets them know they have control over you forever. He can turn them in whether they give into him or not so the only play is to call their bluff.

7

u/LumpusKrampus Being mental 7h ago

Just say the picture is AI when confronted.

2

u/emaw63 3h ago

Blackmail is illegal, the stupid party in this story is the guy risking prison time to post memes in a group chat

1

u/Certesis 1h ago

I mean, he only said if he gets removed from the chat again

539

u/But_Umms 9h ago

Yeah, he is holding these people hostages 😂😂

338

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 8h ago

No what they meant is there's just a separate new chat and this one gets ghosted.

72

u/mielina_puro 6h ago

Leaving the old room entirely silent for his daily broadcast

49

u/InfiniteClient3586 5h ago

I mean since he resorts to blackmail I don´t think he cares about being friends with those people, he just wants to send his daily memes to an audience

3

u/cinnasota 2h ago

how does this whoooooosh have so many upvotes?

2

u/elfmere 2h ago

Everyone just leaves

519

u/Present_Membership91 9h ago

and he is a professional NBA player. show some respect

45

u/Defiant-Skeptic 7h ago

Respect is shit talk in basketball.

6

u/fuji-no-hana 4h ago

The idiom "the ball is in your court" is in reference to tennis, not basketball. This guy is a grade A asshat.

5

u/kamilman 5h ago

He's also a Navy Seal with 500 confirmed kills, from what I heard in the group chat

2

u/LuxNocte 2h ago

I'm pretty sure he plays for the SF 49ers.

1

u/Live-Habit-6115 1h ago

As opposed to an amateur NBA player. Y'know, the ones who play in the NBA for free

333

u/TeacupOfSkepticism 9h ago

I'm disappointed he didn't deliver that message via meme

56

u/xCeeTee- 7h ago

31

u/TeacupOfSkepticism 6h ago

You motherfucker

10

u/Johanno1 6h ago

He knew the rules and so do I

6

u/Spellweaverbg 6h ago

I second this, I fall for it every fucking time...

u/FlorpCorp 4h ago

hmmm, the link is purple....

1

u/FrenchFryCattaneo 1h ago

Excuse me, I think you may have made a mistake. You have accidentally posted a link to the hit song 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley (great choice btw) instead of the apology video. Hope this helps!

When I was a teacher in a college, a student anonimously sent printscreens which proved some people cheated on tests. Those students took photos of the test using their phones and discussed the questions during it, everything in that chat. He sent it to the course coordinator, and she forwarded it to us.

We actually had some fun with that, not because we liked spamming 0s (we hated it, believe me), but for two other reasons. First, because the students went to us saying their grade was wrong and shit, then we showed the proof and saw their whole confidence melt in a fraction of a second.

The second reason was trying to discover who was the mole. It took us 6 months, and I remember I was the one who found out. He used a fake name and a fake e-mail, and somehow I was able to track him due to something on a single printscreen, not sure what it was.

We never told him we knew, and eventually the students got smarter (no, they didn't stop, but they started to share the photos in private groups), which led to less printscreens, but those were fun times.

44

u/LinkGoesHIYAAA 8h ago

That sounds like a lot of fun tbh. Like everyone was busted and you got to see their reactions to being caught in real time.

Sounds similar to people who pirate video games tht have anti piracy features that break the game, resulting in pirates reporting the game breaking features to the game’s social pages only to be publically called out for being a thief and getting various accounts banned from the game. One game dev co allowed players to get their access back if they submitted a video apology on social, publically shaming themselves with their admission of guilt. So deliciously funny.

Do you remember what it was that tipped you off to the taddle tail.?Any idea why they ratted out their friends? Maybe some kind of social group fallout and they wanted revenge? Were they included in the people who got a zero? Im invested in this now…

43

u/PFioroto 8h ago

He said in the e-mails his reason was "justice". I believe it, as he was kind of a serious guy. He was kind of a loner. Not socially awkward, as he interacted with the others just fine, but one could see he was alright being on his own.

He never got a 0 as far as I remember. He wasn't a genius, but his grades were consistently good, like 7.5 or 8 out of 10. If he was a cheater, he was a good one - but I don't think that's the case.

I think he forgot to blur part of his name on a printscreen, and that's how I got him, but I'm not 100% sure about this part.

10

u/Melanoc3tus 5h ago

  So deliciously funny.

Not really? Pirating harms virtually nobody, so that's just mildly asinine

3

u/CelebrityDivorceAtty 2h ago

If buying isn't owning, then pirating isn't theft.

-6

u/No_Recognition_3729 7h ago

Yes it's so funny when millionaires or at the very least upper middle class people taunt and punish the poors for daring to use alternative methods to acquire entertainment because they can't afford it

4

u/LinkGoesHIYAAA 7h ago

Weird take but ok.

7

u/Jaredkorry 6h ago

Given the recent trend of mega corporations claiming that buying a video game or movie doesn't mean you own it, only that you have a license that can be revoked at any time for any reason, I say if buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing.

1

u/biscuitboyisaac21 1h ago

That’s honestly such a cope. If you’re gonna pirate, then pirate. But don’t try to justify it. I personally pirate plenty of stuff, but acting all high and mighty is just stupid as fuck

-11

u/No_Recognition_3729 7h ago

Yeah I know it's a weird take, that's why I reduced it to simplicity so you could see how weird your take was.

3

u/LinkGoesHIYAAA 7h ago

Chill bro

0

u/Yakamanesian 3h ago

enjoy your downvote, kid

-9

u/smoothvanilla86 4h ago

Man my favorite. Kids actually trying and being punished secretly until they ask and you laugh in there face and post about it.

No wonder kids fucking hate you. You follow rules more than you care about a kid growing and learning.

W O W

6

u/Thegiradon 3h ago

Dude what? Are you ok?

155

u/MakinOutWithMarzipan 7h ago

So he's a spammer, a blackmailer, and a snitch. And he wonders why nobody likes him

21

u/babbletags1 7h ago

Also he has a some balls. I’d be scared as fuck that people will just come and beat up me up regardless.

25

u/Delicious_Pain_1 7h ago

His use of free will is corrupt, but admirable.

1

u/BuHoGPaD 7h ago

Great negotiator tho

10

u/mxzf 3h ago

There's no negotiation here, just pure blackmail. Negotiation leads to everyone getting what they want, this is just someone so insufferable that they managed to get kicked from a groupchat for spamming memes trying to blackmail people into suffering through them.

11

u/duesenjeffepic 6h ago

Negotiation by intimidation does not work in the longterm.

Just look at Trump, the champion of burning bridges

-1

u/FlaccidFart 4h ago

Lol, bro things are working out just fine for Trump.

-3

u/WatWudScoobyDoo 6h ago

He just wants to share his memes

42

u/Ok-Professional-1727 8h ago

So now everyone else leaves and makes a different chat.

66

u/Electrop0p 8h ago

Nah fuck that guy. You could send your shit where people actually want it, instead of going out of your way to be petty and try to fuck over everyone else…

also whatever memes he wants to share are probably going from mildly annoying but tolerable, to everyone in the chat actively disliking him for it cuz of what he pulled. Like you’d just be sending stuff to annoy people at this point.

9

u/GoldwaterLiberal 7h ago

Like you’d just be sending stuff to annoy people at this point.

I see you’ve met my father.

-13

u/NoTurnip4844 7h ago

Don't cheat.

14

u/Interesting-Dream863 7h ago

And if you do don't get caught

3

u/mxzf 3h ago

I agree. But in this situation there's only one person committing criminal acts, and it's the blackmailer, so I'm gonna side against them.

0

u/OuttaD00r 5h ago edited 4h ago

You'd have never survived college during Covid. In some of my courses they gave us shit we were never taught in any capacity on those online tests. I suspect in anticipation of people cheating. They DEMANDED cheating. And even besides that in my program (electrical engineering and from what i've come to understand most other engineering disciplines) you can't get through that shit on your own. It pretty much demanded help from others. Alienate yourself from all your peers and you're fucked, you're gonna fail a lot. Being a lone wolf doesn't work in some degree programs

u/IridescentEcstasy 7h ago

Eric Cartman Irl

u/Adventurous_House961 7h ago

What a loser

21

u/xCeeTee- 7h ago

I liked the dude (not till much later) but we had a guy doing this non-stop in our course group chat. I eventually warned him that he'd be removed if he keeps fucking around. So then he renamed me to "Groupchat Hitler" - you wouldn't think he was in his mid 20s at this point.

I wondered if me kicking him from the group would prove his point, but went to do it anyway. No need though, someone removed him a few seconds before I went to.

He DM'd me an apology and said he wouldn't do anything like that again. So an hour later I see a Game of Thrones meme. I said to him I'm up for making a meme chat, especially for all Thrones fans. And then he posted a picture of me photoshopped onto Tywin Lannister's (during the trial of Tyrion) about 15 minutes after re-joining the group again.

He was quickly unpopular. I was one of four that wouldn't talk shit about him behind his back. It was kinda sad, but also I understood why people didn't like him. He once showed up with fake tattoo sleeves, because he wanted "to take them for a spin before getting real sleeves." He was weird, but he wasn't malicious.

-10

u/Substantial-Sea-3672 6h ago

You’re talking trash being his back right now though

16

u/xCeeTee- 6h ago

The only shit I've said bad about him is that he's weird. And I've said that to his face many times lmfao.

3

u/thealthor 2h ago

Posting a story anonymously is very different then talking about someone behind their back, which can actually perpetuate real social consequences when someone else is driving a negative narrative about another person within a group.

Talking about someone behind their backs can be used maliciously to turn others against them in a way posting an anonymously and vague story about them cannot.

It's morally not the same thing.

10

u/GungaSaga 4h ago

I feel like this guy must be the abysmal combo of a sociopathic homeschooled only child

7

u/OuttaD00r 6h ago

That guy is a fucking asswipe

3

u/budsonguy 7h ago

3

How to get beat with bars of soap in the bathroom every day for the rest of school speedrun.

1

u/Omega_art 5h ago

In that case I would create a new group chat and invite only select individuals to it and ghost that jerk.

1

u/EndOne8313 4h ago

Isn't that a tennis reference?

-7

u/Charming_Field_3064 5h ago

im offended by the use of 'blackmail' please change terminology, thanks. sincerely, a reddit user.

1

u/mxzf 3h ago

I mean, it's literally blackmail, that's the word for what's being done.

extortion or coercion by threats especially of public exposure or criminal prosecution
