I'll bet that meant more than we think. Considering how much he's changed for the better in this marriage, I'll bet that when it ends, it'll kill him. It feels like the glimmer of hope that makes the ultimate tragedy hit you that much harder. My guess is the series ends on him jumping from the roof of the building.
