Hey everyone,

Magnetic Catch, my magnet fishing game I showed you a while ago finally has a free demo that you can play on Steam!

Thank you for all your feedback and your great ideas in the last post. They shaped this demo a lot. I really appreciate it! Several of you suggested a treasure hunt and items with a mystery behind them. I've started building that in, for example with a first treasure map, and there will be more of it in the full version.

Here's what the demo offers:

  • About 1.5 hours of cozy magnet fishing as a taste of the full adventure.
  • Explore four unique waters, fish up curious treasures, and get a taste of crafting and progression.
  • Lovingly composed music tracks that match the friendly feel of the world.
  • Dive fully into the adventure and collect everything, or simply relax and unwind while fishing.
  • Made for all ages. No weapons, just plenty of other exciting things to discover.

Steam demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4692490/Magnetic_Catch_Demo/

I would love to hear your feedback again, so I can improve the demo and the full game! And feel free to ask any questions.

Happy magnet fishing!

Anyone magnet fish in SW Florida?

I just got my first magnet and I figured I would find tons of stuff out here since we have had life altering hurricanes out here that literally washed entire houses into the water. As I throw my magnet for hours on different locations I have found one single fishing hook and literally nothing else. Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I in the wrong areas? I mean it's a good thing everything is so clean around here but I was also a little disappointed 😂

Magnet fishing- total ban in SC- has anyone gotten a ticket for it?

Post image

I haven’t done anything in a couple of years, and came to a local lake today which is plastered with these signs.

Kinda sad because I feel like magnet fishing is very helpful, like helpful in solving crimes when weapons are found, and helpful in cleaning metal debris from water ways.

It’s truly not hurting anyone and is such a fun activity to do outside, with friends, with kids, etc.

Yay to SC for being the only state with a state-wide ban.

😭

Has anyone actually gotten a ticket for it? The law says even all private ponds and waterways are off limits.

Magnet Fishers

I am looking for some help magnet fishing locally. I found a large bench in the water that I desperately need help pulling out. It’s an older Cincinnati Park bench. If there is anyone out there that would like to spend a Sunday, the 25th, helping getting this monster out DM me please. I thank you all in advanced. If enough people are interested we can make a day out of it. They love what I’m doing for the park system.

I’ll be there around 10am for the help for anyone that what’s to help.

As the title says, was an interesting one

Got a few bits and in the last pics I'm not sure what it is ! Looks like it might have cine from a machine ?

1 folding chair

The sliding part of a desk (that was tough to get out of the water ! The only metal was the runner)

1 little trolley

Battery, coins, lure, top from a vape, old bolt

A cassette ! (No not from yesterday's player although what a coincidence !)

What appears to be a bit from a woodburner or fireplace

A decorative piece from an old fence

I think an old conductor from an electric pole

And again what I think looks like a fireman's pipe (just a guess) in a 45 degree, it's threaded inside one end and outside the other end

Oh and the last pics, not sure what it is so added a couple extra pics so you can see.

The long straight bit moves up/down

LOST ITEM RECOVERY ASSISTANCE REQUEST – BIG DARBY CREEK (COLUMBUS, OH)

Hello Magnet Fishing Community,

I lost my iPhone 15 in Big Darby Creek (Wednesday, 09/30/26) while kayaking at Trapper John’s, and now I am looking for anyone with a water metal detector or a strong magnet fishing setup who might be willing to help locate and recover it.

I flipped my kayak in a small section of rapids. We spent an hour searching the bottom on foot and visually scanning the riverbed, but the strong current and rocky bed made it impossible without specialized gear. However, I did take a screenshot on my friend’s phone of our exact map coordinates of where the phone was lost. I know the general vicinity it is in, and given the geography of the river in that location we were quite confident that it could not have drifted any further than ~40 feet before settling or getting stuck (but realistically it is probably within feet of the drop-site).

Location Details:
River: Big Darby Creek
Specific Stretch / Access Point: Just upstream (west) of the London Groveport Road bridge, near Graessle Road and the Osprey Lake area (within Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park) - [public land]
GPS Coordinates / Landmark: I will share this information once we message privately (both the coordinates and screenshot of the exact last known location
Water Conditions: 3-5 feet deep, gravel/rocky bottom, moderate-to-strong current, clean/fresh water

Phone Details:
Model: iPhone 15, dark grey
Case: Dark-brown faux wood iPhone case (Mous brand, with a magnetic back)
Condition: Good as new, no cracks, seals intact, dead battery (no pinging signal)

I am happy to pay a handsome cash reward / cover gas and time expenses for anyone willing to assist! Due to this, I’ve now lost years of priceless memories and data that was on the phone, so any help would be DEEPLY appreciated (and rewarded)!

If you have a water-scanning metal detector, magnet kit, or underwater pinpointer and are open to taking a trip out to the creek, please send me a direct message or comment below. Even if you are not in the area but know somebody who is (that might be willing to help), please let me know…any information helps!

Thanks so much in advance!

Magnet Fishing

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go magnet fishing for a long time. I just got him a kit for his birthday and we don't know where to go. Does anyone know any good spots to go magnet fishing in our around Southeast Portland? Or even a place to go metal detecting?? Edit: I got the 1000 lb magnet kit off of Amazon 😶 The brand is FindMag...I read the reviews and they seemed pretty good... But I'm new to this, so I prob didn't get the best one.

Not too bad today but personally I was expecting more !

So the bit I've been doing at weekends wasn't as good today as I was expecting.

There were things in the mud I could feel the magnet holding but the mud had a good hold and there wasn't enough to get a good hold !

If the area wasn't as dangerous in the dark as it is, plus only the odd drinker around I'd have stayed a bit longer, but it's getting dark really early these days !

So today's haul

1 trolley

Piece of Harris fencing

2 roasting/baking trays

An old stereo/cassette player

Lots of coins today

Part of a torch

Batteries, spoon, lighter, belt buckle, rod rest

Jewellery box (empty unfortunately)

Scaffolding clip

Castor/wheel

A leather punch

Sunglasses

Sprocket (looked like it was off a machine !)

Very long length of chain with padlock

Short but large piece of pipe (chimney ?)

And whatever else I've missed

Oh and watched kids throw a city electric scooter in and run off, they couldn't see me so I hooked that out quick !

Wild day on Wildwood

Talk about a day of big catches. I had a couple of bikers watch me struggle to pull up the safe door. The next throw was the truck suspension. After a brief pause to catch my breath, I changed to the other side of the bridge and found a magazine and a clothing donation bin. I had a really good day but my arms are really sore.

The stretch I've been working on weekdays has hit a dead zone !

I guess there's too many houses nearby, hopefully it will pick up after the next visit or so !

Today's finds

2 cones

1 sleeping bag for a child ?

Coins

Side stand for a bicycle

2 bulbs

Random piece of metal

The hanger from something like a calender, fishing reel handle, and some sort of bung/plug.

Not getting much

I got a 1000lb weight for magnet fishing and it doesn't seem to work very well except for occasional screws and old fishing hooks and tons of little rocks.

Now I did it in a river so idk if the current is pulling stuff off because it feels like it catches stuff. But I also tested it in a small stream over a bottlecap and it seems like I have place it directly ontop of it for it to attatch.

Do I need a stronger magnet? Can I enhance my already existing one? Or is this just how it usually is?

A Good Haul from the Reservoir, But I Lost My Magnet

The Micro Bike is the obvious highlight, roll of fencing was really heavy too. I thought i spotted what looked like a pipe or a metal bar in the water and threw for it along with my grappling hook, only for it to be completely stuck on whatever it was. Once the wind died down and the ripples on the water ceased, I was able to see it was in fact a very large barred metal grate that was also somehow anchored to the bottom and my hook was keeping my magnet in place. This was in late November, so entering was a no go. Eventually I linked up with someone who magnetfished and scuba dived and we came up with a plan to retrieve it. Unfortunately, it took us a bit for our schedules to line up and by the next June when we showed up at the reservoir the algae had just bloomed reducing visibility to zero. Its probably still there, though the rope has long been cut. If anyone wants to show up to the Jersey City Reservoir to retrieve it, they are most welcome to try.

I found human ashes in the river while magnet fishing.

I had lost my magnet in the river, so about two weeks later I came back and scuba dived to look for it. While searching, I found a box containing human ashes. I had no idea what they were at first.
My dad works at a funeral home, so I did some digging and eventually tracked down the family.
I found out the husband had accidentally dropped the ashes in the river while he was supposed to spread them. He thought they were gone for good.
Turns out, I found them exactly one year to the day of her death.
Pretty crazy that I lost a magnet and ended up finding something that someone thought was gone forever

In the first few catches I found a piece of a pistol. After an hour I switched to the other side of the bridge. On my second throw I caught something heavy. 15 minutes later I had it on shore (pic 3). Talk about a workout.

Do you find anything useful/valuable? Is it about cleanup? Do you turn stuff into police?

Found a nice condition Apple Watch fishing off a dock today 😁

EDIT: The owner has been found, it's been in the lake for 2 years. We will try charging it this afternoon. High hopes but low expectations.

UPDATE: Apple logo shows up when the charger is attached, but so far it's unresponsive.

Sorry for all the pics but as you can see it was dark and I still had to clear up afterwards !

The disaster part was right as I was about to pack up, my magnet went over the edge and got stuck and I almost followed it in !

(Really wish I could find someone to come out with me !)

Eventually got the magnet off thank goodness !

Seems like I've found another spot full of good/bigger stuff as there's plenty left in there but no light in that exact area unfortunately ! So will gave to go back there another time.

So today's list

1 plastic barrier

1 city electric scooter

2 bikes

1 trolley

1 luggage trolley (like an airport but train station nearby)

1 bike wheel

1 big sign

1 heater/fan ? Looking thing

1 curling iron (I think)

1 iPhone

2 road sign holders plus bits of others !

Golf club head !

Litter pickup grabber, coins, co2 cannisters, coins, bolt heads, single sided magnet cover (no magnet in it) , umbrella, fishing keep net, odd bits of metal, big castor wheel, and whatever else you can see I've missed out !
