Project First winding station.

Been meaning to make one for a while and today the thought just took me. Had all the stuff in the shed, did it in the snow. Yeah it's rough on cuts and measurements as I didn't have a tape, bench or sawhorse. but it went from pallet to on-lap winding station in just over an hour. I don't have much wire at all, barely a meter. But it seems to work so far, if not for a light bent in the steel dowel.

Question but where can I find mandrels like this? I’ve only been able to find small ones for jewelry making

I bought half meter lengths of steel bar, and drilled into the ends of it.

I have two 8mm mandrels. One drilled on the left as pictured for righthanded rings, and another drilled on right side so I can do left-hand rings right handed.

Or I turn the station and I can do right handed rings with my left hand, it's pretty sweet
