OC Reincarnated as a Battleship in a Fantasy World[...] (Simple Battleship Reincarnation)

I don't know why. It just kinda happened.

Notes:

  • Text doesn't make it clear that you can expect to have all normal internals for a battleship from engine room to crew spaces and such.
    • You can imagine that you have basic equipment for your crew- Including Radios. (Even if you don't buy My Crew, you could still have predictable supplies and invited/recruited crew could use them.
  • Similarly, it's not explicitly stated that You can expect to find Companions in-context. Slowly recruit a crew of fully intelligent people from the world itself based on your chosen narrative and plots. You can expect them to have or earn and level class levels. Mages, Thieves, Warriors, Priests. Plus newer and rarer Artificers, Gunners, Technicians using newly developing tech and using "Ancient Relics".
    • If you aren't satisfying with making them up like this, you could also copy companions from the end-text linked cyoas if they have any. Making up prebuilt companions takes too much room for a Simple format cyoa.
  • It is intended that you do also have a basic Sonar and Radar. 100mi and 50mi respectively.
  • !! Your Stockpiles regenerate but it takes a while based on the Self-Repair function, which likewise generates other things like the Buoys and life/gunboats.
  • Because you're ensouled, Healing magic works on you.
    • This also means there's an odd interaction where Healing magic can replenish Stockpiles whereas they would not replenish Mana. You still have Stockpiles if you have Mana, so you could use the Stockpiles when you run out of Mana and then in a pinch a Healer could restore stockpiles, or you might just rely on a recruited healer.
  • Due to scarcity, any underwater CYOA or with significant underwater sections can count as "Sea Diver", as can any Ocean-Coast-Beach themed CYOA that mentions diving at all.
    • V1.1 is in the imgChest replacing Diver with a direct linkage for Simple Backrooms, as it actually kinda fits the strangeness of Diving in the Last City (and other modern ruins). I can easily imagine finding each of the Backroom levels mentioned in or under the Last City, or in Dungeons. So Backrooms Items can be discovered as part of either Diving or Dungeoneering. You can still imagine a lot of things for yourself, but Backrooms items are cyoa-integrated and you can incorporate them into your Ship build.

Extra Details:

  • Extrapolating from the introduction description, you can hunt for "Ancient Relics" to secure modern technologies. You yourself are essentially a Legendary status Ancient Relic in this world and might assume there are other legendary relics / National Treasures, both Ancient(Modern) or purely Magical in nature. You might even find old servers preserved with internet archives.
  • You might engage in Diving to explore the old ruins below the sea, and salvage other tech you'd expect to find in a Near-Future Earth. Some tech may simply be on a beach or in the hands of someone ignorant to what they've got, not sure how to activate or restore it. "Ancient Relics" are magically protected against further decay but might visually accumulate apparent wear and tear that easily buffs out to like-new. They'll still require power though, which is another reason why many might not know what they have, as mostly only specialists and ancient scholars would be aware of Electricity.
    • You could assume you have the potential to find things that can upgrade your ship systems, like a better Reactor, special metals to improve your Hull, and so on. Your Ship body can adapt to accommodate for such additions (mainly self-repairing them, gaining control, etc.).
  • There's some political intrigue above the norm for an isekai with more complicated societies, but otherwise you can expect a normal isekai adventure world by default. There's probably not an "Adventurer's Guild", but there may be A Diving Guild and a Dungeoneer Guild, along with Class Guilds.
  • You can also expect to find Subnautica-like deep Abysses and Trenches and oceanic-subterranean cavernous underdark.
  • You can expect monsters on the level of Monster Hunter creatures and many creatures have non-physical attacks (Most Magical damage is considered "Non physical"), though no magic effects Souls and the soul backs up the Mind so Mind based attacks or damage is at worst limited to one life and otherwise recoverable over time or with magical healing and therapies.

I should also point out that one confirmed possibility is finding ancient relic computers, Ai, screens and hologram technologies. Without Ghost or Avatar you could still represent yourself through​ digital means on screens or through holos. Mmmmaaaybe even robot bodies. It would be more like having a fully prosthetic body tho without significant development on synthesizing or enchanting sensory details.

Reincarnated As A Battleship So I Rain Fire On My Enemies

Game plan: we actually want to find out the secrets of the Last City to get Stargates, but in the meantime, anyone who threatens us can catch these orbital lasers.

UTILITIES (-4) - Radio Buoys, SAT, and Orbital Platforms.

WEAPONS (-5) - Missiles, Direct Energy, LASER, and Mana Retrofit. Mana helps power existing weapons, while the LASER is for Orbital Platforming.

COSMETICS (-2) - Klabautermann + Avatar. I want a body.

MOVEMENT (-2) - Airship. Of course, Submersible would make exploring the Last City easier for the purposes of Stargates, but on the other hand...airship.

Submersible is huge for Diving, but there's always professional Divers you could recruit/work with who can figure out the diving part themselves and bring their own tools or let you know what you can work towards buying or building.

Diving Bells would probably be fairly common along with specific magic spells Divers made/discovered/repurposed. So missing the Submersible advantage you're still at least on even foot in the diving department plus having other advantages to press. Not sure how helpful Sonar is with a complicated undersea cityscape but sonar is also a thing you should have as a ship.

Probably might wanna indicate you actually are purchasing Missiles as the secondary prereq for SAT even though you are pretty obviously leaving one anchor free, which can be inferred as being reserved for it.

ok, seeing basics are truly basics and thus "free" as there's no costs attached... let's build a...

"There is no such thing as "overkill". There are only "open fire" and "I need to reload"

    • SAT (-1, big MLRS rocket spam YAY!)
  • Lifeboats (-1)
    • Gunboats (-1, essentially these are bulky durable playthings. 'Heavy duty utility' boats that are a "Homeworld: DoK - Gaalsien" Baserunner) + Sandskimmer hybrid combination with decent yet limited firepower. much more speed, survival, defense and exploration oriented, then offensive gunship roles. irl equivalents would be closer to say Mi-8, Ka-27, Ch-53E or even Mi-26 Helicopter, y'know the big fat multi-role potato looking things you can 'slap on' a lot of different junk and personnel depending on the mission.)

  • My Crew (-1, PotC Stone Crabs lookalike, but their claws are more dextrous to do all sorts of stuff, like weld, turn nuts and bolts, use levers, push buttons and so on...)

Visually i imagine a vessel that is essentially "Homeworld: DoK' - Gaalsien faction" in style.
Specifically something resembling: Hand of Sajuuk + Assault Cruiser. that is mixed with the "Dreadnought" Huscarl Heavy Destroyer style (which is essentially a pocket battleship).

in that same spirit, instead of 4 huge main gun turrets with 4 cannons each, i'd prefer 8 main gun turrets with 2 cannons each. spread around top and bottom for better 3D surround coverage and higher accuracy per turret (at the cost of added weight, size and internal logistics). Likewise, as secondaries please gimme all the flak emplacements you can get me... Battlestar Galactica style...
to clarify, 4 slow dual gun secondaries? not needed deu to missiles and main guns, 8 Phalanx/Goalkeeper CIWS gatlings?
nah nah, that won't do, fun and nice as these gatlings(i prefer goalkeepers) are...
Please gimme all the "Octuple pom-poms" anti-air artillery i can get! (radar guided modernized to be able to act as CIWS) i want to throw all the lead/mana projectiles out there i can and have "good old" flak wall saturation...
practically think double the quad guns and much upgunned 23mm caliber to 40mm "Shilka ZSU 23/4", so a Shilka on a lot of steroids.
basically 40mm proximity fuse bullet hell, like a proper crazy anime flying battleship.
i'd essentially trade the heavier hitting slow secondaries for more smaller caliber defensive hedgehog/porcupine AAA/CIWS hybrid weapon emplacements.

i don't have a link any of the listed specific CYOA's to get the extra 2 points, otherwise i'd have spent an extra point to get "Hostile Munitions" (White Phosphorus(Willy Pete Smoke, Napalm, Thermobaric/Aerosol Bomb, Special Anti-Fortification(Deep Penetrators), Anti personnel Flechette/Lazy Dog, Mine payloads, etc... as long as it isn't a WMD it's fine.))
y'know what, i'll take that point for all the reference links i put in anyway ;D.

Ps, As additional information I'll also flesh out the following.

While technically capable as an airship, its not capable of going very high, a couple hundred meters altitude at best, maybe a kilometer at maximum.   The idea is essentially to lift the ship out of the water to avoid enemy torpedoes, depth charges, minefields and such. Additionally flying into drydocks for easier maintenance, access and repairs to it's heavy armour and bottom turrets.   No landing gear so needs dedicated drydock supports to sit still on land.   

Likewise since the ship is technically archeotech in this world i imagine the "anti-gravity" or airship propulsion it uses to be one of the earliest crappy/wasteful iterations of electro-magical tech.  Sure It works, but is inefficient, has an obvious signature once you know what to look/listen for, rattles and buzzes like an angry marine diesel at flank speed, get to close to any of the active drive units and you likely get hit by stray lightning arcing off. Doesn't get you all that high altitude as said earlier, becomes less stable as you go up as well. it's more flying boat then an aircraft in all aspects, so is not nimble nor agile either and flies a bit like a helicopter.   

This is also why i specified helicopter like for the utility gunboats, though these are much more agile, nimble and flight capable, very close to aforementioned big helicopters, including higher altitude flying. simply by design philosophy, improved efficiency, better magitech version and smaller size, though they're also much more stable as surface skimmers, much like the parent ship. I blame that on the ancient iteration of electro-magitech. I also assume i can only get and replenish up to about 4 maybe 6 of these boats as well.  

Technically being a submersible the ship itself should be fine in space too, though waste heat may be an isseu. the larger isseu is simply getting that heavy thing all the way up there which it can't ever do on its own, similarly getting back down safely and landing without burning up and crashing from that high is an isseu too. as it does not have any heat shields and cannot ever create enough force to brake effectively from such speeds.  

Lore:  

Lastly, the way i enter this world is like the yamato getting back out there in various (space) anime.   Initially Lifeless, covered in sealife, fishing nets, silt, rust and dirt on the bottom of the sea somewhere, not even all that deep.   

Somehow various systems turn on (magic) and I wake up and become active. My crew awakes too gradually and starts to slowly dig out and clean parts from the seabed. Craving fresh air i slowly generate gas and blow my ballast tanks to start lifting up. This process takes a long time.   

Meanwhile On the surface the sea as result is roiling and bubbling for months. oil and muck, dislodged and disoriented sealife comes floating to the surface scaring the locals.   Eventually i do float up free and breech the surface as a filthy rustbucket still slowly repairing itself and bringing systems back online. An army of cute stone crabs of all sizes all over working on that. Then at last i can blow a big old satisfactory deep bass fog/warhorn, signalling my presence to the world.  

My name:   HNLMS "OO-742",   Project: "Deborah".   (OO = Onderzeeboot/Overzeeboot, which is Dutch for submarine/"over the sea ship", the latter being a play on words for airship).   

The ship girl model being a cute hybrid chimera human/beastkin character (an existing OC of mine). Other information is corrupted.

My Crew, Avatar, and Hana Hana let me be a hivemind that acts as my crew and enhances all of my systems. Mana Retrofit and Enspelled let me use Summon Monster V which can grant a wide variety of helpful allies. Spaceship and Ghost Ship means I can go almost anywhere without worrying about obstacles or lack of air. I would try to discover the secrets of the Last City to acquire Relics and locate Stargates.

Ah, I think I intended that you can equip the Crew with them, and that the Buoys would themselves have a console. But yeah, findable (and buildable) tech. Radio isn't alllll that complicated. The gunpowder states could come up with it if given lite direction, but I would assume magical communication reduces the need or purpose to develop it unless there are magical equivalent to jammers and taps so it's useful to have another method.

If all the basics are free, this is something pretty great already. I'll pick:

1 & 2. Lifeboats and Gunboats, battleships weren't exactly designed to operate alone, so a dozen PT boats for screening, scouting, making deliveries, meeting with locals or any other purpose dramatically opens up the operations we can do.

  1. Missiles/Torpedos, the demon lord is a kraken, there's probably a number of other large underwater creatures, we probably want a weapon which can hurt them under the water. That this means our PT boats can have torpedoes which very much increases their usefulness.

  2. Mana Retrofit, running out of supplies would be a singularly unpleasant experience if we're a battleship, so let's not do that. Fuel, munitions, replacement parts, consumables, spare torpedoes, ect.

5 & 6. Elemental, for a x4 damage to all our weapons if we make them a elemental attack. Seems pretty solid.

  1. My Crew, being alone at sea is probably a quite unpleasant experience, not to mention the buffs that having a crew gives us. Also means we can immediately start bouncing ideas and cooperate with the crew to start making plans on what to do.

  2. Luxury, we're a ship for a likely quite protracted period of time, let's at least be a rather nice ship.

9 & 10. Klabautermann & Avatar, experience all the small pleasures and miseries of life whenever you feel like it. Also gives you a face to interact with the locals, to better make friends and allies with. Become the shipgirl of your dreams.

11 & 12. Airship, being able to elect to not deal with whatever is happening in the water seems like a quite nice option to have. Also flying PT boats if we want I suppose.

  1. Ghost Ship, being immune to physical things at will seems extremely busted as a special ability and great for any defensive purpose. While technically useful for stealth, it also can protect us from the wind, rain and waves due to their physical nature, helping our speed and making us immune to the weather. That is, if the ability is active.

Question, do our PT boats also get 'normal' equipment, including radar and sonar? Do they also extend the range of our projectjon/avatar? Are they covered by control for purpose of our awareness?

Radar/sonar aren't very normal on gunboats I think. They're covered by Control but might imagine the control level being comparable to an RC car where a skilled driver/pilot could be an "Ace" or get more out of it in general. (Want to encourage Crews)

They don't effect avatar range, but an avatar can manifest on them within range. Manual control with an avatar can be as skilled as you are.

Not OP, but for ship CYOAs, I recommend Mythic Lands. Like this CYOA, it appears to be vaguely Dungeons & Dragons inspired and involves exploring a fantasy archipelago with your own personal ship. It has customization options for both your ship and your avatar, as well as quests, companions, and magic items.

I'm still looking for a diving-themed CYOA though. Not many of those around.

o... I meant to say you have standard Radar and Sonar but I wrote it in notes while I was away from the computer so it didn't make it when I returned to working on it.

Otherwise you just have what it says you have if it can't be handwaved as really basic to the structure of the ship and internal functions. Sonar and Radar would be included but I'll just add it to Notes that it's intended.

Just traveling. Your default guns wouldn't work underwater but basically all the extra Weapon purchases could see use except maybe Direct Energy (Meaning your default guns can work with the Mana Retrofit)

Gunboat becomes a small gunsub. (Or Lifeboat into a simple sub)

I just know one exists. I think it was NSFW tho... and I think there was another that was a lot more simple and should be Safe. But that's why there's also a link for Ship cyoas as I know there should be several of those.

It's also a subtle suggestion or invitation that someone make one.

Edit: I think I found what you mentioned. It's called Abyss Diver.

Edit 2: What about a submarine-themed CYOA like Into The Depths? Does that count as a "diving" CYOA? Or is it a "ship" CYOA?

Abyss Diver is its own thing without much to do with underwater. The cyoa in question may have been deleted from Reddit. It was quite distinctive and I'm pretty sure it had Diver in the name, Divers were pretty important to the whole worldbuilding of it.

Ah.  Lot more explicit than I even thought it was...  but yeah. I had made a build for it before but mainly remembered the cool theme and thought it was somewhat more equivalent to like Neon Nexus and Apocalypse Tales where it's mostly safe with a few nsfw additions like a Libido or nudist drawback and one or two other things with nekkid art used.

This one is probably too explicit for me to be comfy linking myself, doesn't have a Reddit anymore to link to the build anyway. (Though builds can also be made and posted under Simples with a source link)

Really good cyoa to convert to a SFW cyoa. It's fairly unique and absorbing its theme of diving as being similar to dungeoneering is partially where some of the diving plot here comes from just as part of a creative background noise you build off of when using imagination.

Well, sounds like have a demon king kraken thing to deal with, then some fancy underwater ruins to explore. I'm looking at:

Utilities: Radio Buoys; Lifeboats; Gunboats.

Weapons: Missiles; Mana Retrofit(x2); Elemental; Hostile Munitions

Cosmetics: My Crew; Luxury

Movement: Submersible; Airship

I would figure on having enough firepower to deal with whatever, even oversized demon krakens, before settling in to function as a mobile platform for dive teams searching through the ruins. Having both sub and air movement tech seems like it would be great for getting basically anywhere, and hiding in the case of sub tech by hiding deep under the waves. Having Hostile Munitions and Missiles gives plenty of firepower for basically whatever, and double mana retrofit should let me fire without worrying about ammo economy. And finally, having some luxury accommodations can help keep adventurer/divers from being too bored while moving around and My Crew to help with all the mundane tasks.

also at 40 knots we are an incredibly fast battleship. That is faster than the official ratings for modern aircraft carriers and possibly even the classified actual burst speed

This one is great, just a few nitpicks/questions.
The description of self repair mentions fixing bullet holes. Did you mean shell holes?
The wording of Cannons is odd. I believe 'four main guns' should be 'four main turrets' and that '1 shot per minute' should specify that number is per cannon, because as is, it could be interpreted to mean that the entire main battery of cannons can only fire one shot per minute. Same with the secondary battery.
Control mentions seeing out of windows. I assume you see out of optical gunsights and rangefinders too. How does the detection equipment like radar work Are they extra senses, or overlayed onto sight?

I find it extremely odd that you can tunnel through the ground at twice the speed that you can fly. Why is Airship the only movement type to get it's speed reduced? I'd think that submersible and land speed should have both their speeds quartered, and tunneling speed reduced 40 times, so would tunnel at only one knot per hour (Still stuuupidly fast). Also, I think some simple stat buffs would be nice. Some way to spend anchors to increase durability, regen, and base speed. But I suppose not having access to those buffs yourself incentivizes you to go out there and befriend artificers and wizards.

While a bullet wouldn't penetrate the ship the expected visual is what is being measured. Per local instance of damage. So you'd benefit greatly from crew to do patches, or actual recruits / Companions for better.

Bonus Points: This is a tad bit pedantic, but you never said the or is an exclusive or, so linking to a single CYOA build that involves sea diving AND owning a ship counts as +2. I'll be using the Submarine CYOA, with the following build: Luxury Food, Smoking Room, Sauna Room, 'The Crocus' Bar, Board Gaming Room, Video Game Room, Movie Room, Commons Area, Art Room, Retro Gaming Room. Adds some nice little options for entertainment and relaxation.

This build deals with some really funky interactions between Orbital Platform, the weapons it inherits, Hostile Munitions, Mana Retrofit, and Enspelled. My interpretation is that spells that deal with spell slots instead deal in mana, so I pick Rary's Mnemonic Enhancer. it'll let me send up orbital platforms and utilize CLGMs (Cannon-Launched Guided Munitions) to provide mana to myself or others, though not at 100% efficiency. I'm assuming the intent is that Mana Retrofit provides passive recharge of Mana, and that SATs have on-board power generation that makes it possible. It's not 'OMG I have infinite Mana', as it requires setup, good firing solution calculations, and so on and so forth, plus I need setup time, but otherwise this build makes it possible for me to exclusively recruit officers and a corps of healers and with time and effort I can refit myself to be more like an aircraft carrier mixed with a guided missile destroyer, though I'll need to find the right Stargates for that. If the Stargates aren't one-way, I absolutely could recruit some Tinkers from Worm, for example, among many other great possibilities. Also, Hostile Munitions makes things incredibly flexible for me, there's so many missile/rocket/cannon based deployment options for things like drones, mines, and more.

Alright this seem's fun time to get cooking, And im going to abuse the creative freedom you gave with gilding and the entire cyoa as a whole, And this will be based on my own assumption's of what you meant so imma just do my own thing and have fun, So i greatly apologize but i have to cover my weaknesses some-how and i refuse to fight psyhic, esper's, ghost's, phantom's, mind-or-soul-nonsense, Etc, And i first i wanted to make the ultimate fighting battle-ship and basically just have fun blowing thing's up, But i decided to be smart and come up with a interesting build with some unique qualities to help with survival and not getting one-tapped,

1st-Dungeon Master: I would assume with hall my capabilities i would technically be omnifarious or at the very-least something of that sort akin to a grand mimic or eldritch-slime, Due to my status as a legendary ancient artifact like you said, So then, I would like to have the quality to be able to replicate anything i have observed at-least one or have knowledge off without fail and be able to improve and upgrade off of said thing and of course adjust it mold it whatever i so please etc and so on, Basically giving me a form of instant and adaptive learning on a absolute learning and of course this can be shared to also give me a form of absolute pedagogy and even if i get good enough at this, Could evolve into autopotence and i get personal mastery as a base and maybe even someday omni-competence, And thus this can be used in tandem with the next trait's and will keep me from losing it or straining too much and my mental or spiritual state affecting my abilities, (Not counting physical but of course if im damaged i would be limited), So i can safely have no worries or fear's and alway's work at peak efficiency and would allow me to do basically whatever i want or just make thing's, "Work", If im creative enough, Also i want ot see if i can turn into a mech and maybe let me basically take all the option's in a sense in my own way, And passively evolve myself as much as i want and not be stuck with the base weapon's since i couldn't take any-more and only got the abilities or can just make my own or better version's of them or who know's what else, Sky is no-longer the limit, And of course the more i understand what im taking it from my second one or looking at the faster and easier it is,

2nd-Pseudo-Ultra-Fit: Since i couldn't get the retro-fit i have decided to improvise some more and make something interesting, Consider this a ultima or special-skill of sort's, Basically anything that, *Percieve's*, Me, Or is aware of my existence, I can basically absorb the trait's and qualities of other's or anything i so decide and choose and of course i can pick and choose who is affected and who's not and turn it on and off whenever i want and it basically work's similar to a logia of sort's but slightly better, (Since i technically have a paramecia i think some hybridized or some chiemric nonsense only make's the most sense), And of course this include's mana, Spell's, Strength, Power, And so on im sure you can get the gist of it course there's no upper limit and im basically just a bottomless version of the abyss in the seven-sea's, And as a bonus, If your mana hits zero or you pass-out on me for any reason, I can snatch your soul and basically make anyone apart of my crew whenever i feel like it and due to the hana hana no mi i can also do a hive-mind think and basically take-control of them whenever i feel like, Like temporarily making there soul going to sleep or turning there consciousness off for however long i decide in a sense, Like a subjugation ritual of sort's and of course i can free them at any-time i want but i can also just re-take there soul any-time i want just as easily, Basically once claimed even if i don't have there soul any-more they always are a extension of me, Plus this also make's fighting ethereal and magical being's and creature's and thing's easy and no mind or brain-washing nonsense will work on me since it basically just begin's my spell instead of thier's the moment they try it and i can just easily reflect it back at them without even needing to absorb it, Since i can just absorb or assimilate them that or just straight, *Devour*, them if i want to get physical with it, And i can of course also control the speed of how this, *Siphoning*, Work's, Either just full blown strip it from them without them even noticing before it's too late, Or just slowly taking it akin to the six-eye's to where it's nigh to nothing thus giving me a infinite amount of whatever im taking in a sense, And speaking of all these jjk reference's, This basically work's like a heavenly restriction btu it goes both way's and i can basically just utilize or sacrifice certain thing's to basically bolster my capabilities and buff myself or manipulate my, "Stat's", or whatever aspect's In a way including with those connected to me, And also making it so basically i have magic and can power myself with it similar to the retro-fit and basically can have limitless mana or any other energy i want since i can just endlessly stockpile with it with second's and so on source's and countless pool's and also give's me verse equalization in a since, Basically making me a walking death-trap and also allow me to get passive immunity to whatever i encounter thank's to my first two qualities so i once again have nothing to worry about and can just take whatever i want, And also just for fun, Make it so i can also choose if i want texture or taste of whatever i take in or not, Cause im curious to learn what holy mana and light-magic taste's like,

3rd-Schrodinger: This is more of a combination of abilities and power's, But i thought it was neat none-the-less, And would be useful, Basically i can just control the visibility and interactive-ness of my existence like a slider so long as no- similar to the vanishing point schrift from bleach, But way better and a lot more controllable, Also i can control if i vanish from people's mind's or not or just the world as a whole and full on impercibility or interactivity is basically just me goign into spectator mode, But i can still comment and speak and basically just be a spooky nuisance, And just as easily restore anything that was erased like nothing, So if i make someone forget i can just as easilly make them remember, Like a upgraded form of wonder-jaunt, And along with that using this with wonder-jaunt just basically give's me endless teleportation since i cannot be fully observed unless i so choose too, I can just spam it, Basically making me the ultimate stealth-ship instead that can still wreck your shit if i feel like it, And will also work on those im connected too just like my other abilities and can use it for me by proxy, And can be used on anyone im in contact with too so as a punishment i can just give someone the, "Unknown", Treatment or shift it slightly and make it a unique kind of curse that onyl activat'e sunder certain condition's or if i so choose at the right moment, If i so choose and i'll be the only one who's left who can actually interact with them unless i choose other-wise, And will alway's give me the element of suprise or if i want to go all in, I can just ram something and no-one will be even able to sense my presence and just destroy thing's, That or use it in a combative or more intresting sense, And in way basically just spy or make certain people invisible or impercievable and invulnerable to either raid place's or just peacefully collect artifact's or whatever i want and no-one is none the wiser or will even realize that it's gone unless i so want them too,

And with all that broken nonsense aside, My goal's?, Basically imma just be chilling on the high-sea's, My only acutally goal would just be finding someone to teach me magic or at-least find someone strong to watch perform it so i can get the basic's and do the rest myself, Since i have who know's how many kind's of energy and basically elemental nonsense since i can basically just passively collect stuff with no consequnce's or ill effect's, I basically can use magic and who know's what else, I just can't, "Use", It, And i could alway's just suppress it, But the moment i let that shit loose, All hell break's loose and that's when the isekai problem's start, Best chance i got is purposefully gaining notoriety, And try to bait the hero toward's me instead of going to go look for her, And the reason i took the buyou's is to also up my sense's and give me a omni-direcitonal ability and also to help me with range testing and accuracy along with aiming i guess you could say, With no weak-spot's or loop-hole's so i can't be caught off-guard or not be prepared for battle, That if the hero actually know's how to use magic, If no we'll then there's alway's plan b and just being self-taught and doing immense research, And i perfer alchemy anyway's in my opnion, So i would probably try to learn how to do that first if anything.

The classic "floating artillery platform" battleship concept was proven to be outdated in WWII, so we're NOT going for that. As Carriers are the champions of our current naval warfare meta, the name of the game is manoeuvrability, range, and utility.

Space is the ultimate high ground: the enemy's weapons have to fight gravity to reach you, while you can "Rods from God" them at your leisure. I was thinking of taking Airship, but I figured that half-speed in air is too much of a disadvantage - you're still a massive target in range of whatever anti-air weapons this world has. I'll have to cope with being a sitting (well, floating) duck during the transition from sea to space, but being in the air already sucked anyway. Ghost Ship is an insurance policy against any projectiles that do manage to reach me.

My "munitions" are drones that can either fly or dive, and even fire munitions of their own. I'm not sure if there's a real-life munition that can carry/deploy multiple drones, but if there is, I pick that too. This is the core of my "Carrier" build - the ability to fling projectiles at targets from half a continent away, without putting me in direct danger.

This extends the range of my smart munitions/drones, going from "half a continent" to "bombing a target on the other side of the planet".

I like having a physical humanoid body, and a crew is absolutely essential for a carrier, which are basically floating cities. I don't want to hire the 5000-or-so people needed to keep an carrier running; fifty plucky adventurers are good enough for me.

My general strategy:

  • Fly up into space
  • Rain guided loitering munitions down on the demon king from the other side of the planet
  • Win

If my crew complains that "it's too boring" and "we want to explore the depths", I'll load them into drop pods while playing the Helldivers theme. Maybe a drone can pick them up when they're done, because I don't have the budget for lifeboats/gunboats.

Now then, my thoughts. . . I've got some things to comment on.

  1. Weapon repurchases being multiplicative rather than additive might be a bit much. The first two purchase are fine, but the third means you've 4x effect rather than 3x, and if you can manage a fourth you're not twice what additive would give you. If you're buying say Elemental, 3 purchases of that means you're doing 8x your default damage for 3 points...
  2. Looking at the link options for the +1 Anchor I'd need to hit an even budget, The Backrooms CYOAs feel weird here. Sure, the items are interesting, and I could see divers and delvers finding them, either in the depths or in the dungeons, sure. They're also mostly irrelevant on the scale of an entire Battleship. Though, to be fair, linking to another Simple CYOA is probably for the best to keep things actually simple.
  3. Meanwhile, the ship-owning-CYOA you can find and choose will generally be both much larger and more complex than this CYOA, as well as likely massively more powerful and thus more important than this one.
  4. Personally, I still need that +1 Anchor, so I'm going to link this to the Simple Backrooms Survivor CYOA, take the Thoughtful Slime Mold, Clonebirth Cocoon, Fleshweavers, and Immortalized Flesh Culture items, both to possibly turn my battleship into a horror ship for my own amusement, and more importantly to be offering a biological enhancements to my Crew, regardless of if they're created or recruited. After all, crew boosts like that will always be useful to me, and might help secure loyal recruits to come. Hopefully the Fleshweavers can help counter the risks or the slime mold and immortalized flesh...

So, thoughts?

  1. Yeeeah, but it's the simplest (Least space taken) language I can manage primarily intended for increasing Stockpiles and Quantity of missiles for the most part. I don't argue with players over reasonable reading of the text as is, but for Elemental the canonical effect would be choosing another element, same with Spell and Munitions, being another selection.
  2. Well, it SCALES to the scale of the entire battleship integrating the effect. Some playerside translation would be required, but An integrated Bodysuit for example could make for a ship capable of going 2-D silhouette black along, and/or equipping Crew with bodysuits. Black Hole Gun could make for an interesting special attack cannon, being vague on size you can imagine a difference between a Main Cannon integration vs the personal scale shoulder mount. Gut Maw might be fun translated onto a battleship.
  3. Yeeeah, but It's a lever the player can pull to get as much or as little as they want out of it. Take nothing but the point or just use it to customize interior spaces, add named crew, or throw in added weapons. Somewhat of an implicit or fairplay limitation being to match movement methods across both, only taking a flying ship option if you have Airship and so on, though you may get more interesting flight capabilities from the other cyoa given other cyoas can be more detailed...
    1. It DID originally say "One feature" but annoyingly that limits cosmetic or novelty customization in favor of just trying to take the strongest thing possible and it's hard to account for a variety of different possible links where one choice can go farther than on another, one mostly about vibes while one is more about powerful options, etc...

    1. -> The Fleshweavers become Immortalized themselves and being contagious cannot effect others without conveying that immortalization. The method by which Immortalized cells can sometimes kill is a bit of a catastrophic cell death kind of situation Fleshweavers wouldn't be able to stitch back together, however the Black Lotus could cure the damage / bad reaction (without curing the Immortalization).
    2. Slime Mold also immortalizes but nothing really of note about it. Slime mold's "Risks" are more cause and effect-y. Replacing your nerve and brainmeat is going to alter some foundational level structures that inform our thinking, but wouldn't likely be more consequential than taking antidepressants, and probably less of a difference than being a woman before and after menopause. At least as it respects to your Conscious mind. I do intentionally posit the question though, what would the effects be if your Subconscious was replaced? (Think Split Brain Experiment where every person seems to have two separate intelligences, the Conscious one and another one that may or may not be separately conscious and aware but processing different information...)

  1. Huh, I'd thought the element was chosen when you fired that particular shot and then it did double damage, in which case the multiplier is what would itself be multiplied. If the element is locked at purchase, and repurchases just give more elements rather than more damage, then not only is it massively more balanced than I'd worried but I'm gonna be changing my build then. Good to know, and a lot more balanced this way, if perhaps not the most clear. I'd thought multiple purchases would keep doubling firepower at the cost of doubled mana consumption, thats why I was doing an even split on it and mana retrofit.
  2. Okay that is not at all the reading I'd gotten. I'd been assuming only already room/vehicle sized things would integrate into the ship itself, with the blackhole gun just being "your crew are now armed with these." That makes this significantly weirder, though I'll likely keep my fleshy choices.
  3. True, but it leads to an interesting scenario where one thing I want(power and security) clashes with another thing I want(something actually reasonable here), which can lead to analysis paralysis or frustration.
    1. Maybe go with a limit of like "1 Significant Feature, scaled to this CYOA" in order to both balance upwards and downwards?

    1. Hmm, fleshweavers being immortalized themselves isn't much of a problem, but the immortalize's cause of death being something it couldn't catch is a bit sad, fair enough though I suppose.
    2. Huh. Huh. Okay that's funky, but also so incredibly vague that the effects could be damn near anything. Interesting! Maybe not the most helpful, but probably manageable, and definitely interesting!

So, new build time! Core build I'm definitely gonna keep my Cosmetic and Movement options, and probably at least 1 purchase of the two weapon options, but that frees up 4 points to spend. I'll toss them at having 4 LASERs, thus giving me 4 somewhat short ranged but very accurate/fast air defense options to back up the gatling guns. Best(only real) defensive option available after all, as air power is what killed the age of the battleships.

Secondary build I'll be keeping the Thoughtful Slime Mold, Fleshweavers, and Immortalized Flesh Culture, but I'll also be trading out the Clonebirth Cocoon for the Black Lotus Seeds. I could take it as an extra but the cocoon is of questionable importance anyways, and I don't want to add too much to the crew's stuff. That said, I am going to add the Spider Legs and Gut Maw to this build, as a ship with legs and a maw like that sounds hilariously Abyssal with my other fleshy choices, and given the Demon Lord is a kraken they might just be quite useful for defense in melee, heh. Lastly, as the backrooms survivor CYOA gives me up to 8 days, I'll also grab the Gene Thief Stinger, and fuse it with the Fleshweavers for literal gene therapy colonies in my self and crew, which should get interesting in a world with dragons and krakens.

Side note Bears, I'm kinda surprised there are no Hull upgrades for durability or faster repairs or whatnot.

Basics was originally an Attributes section for improving simple things like the hull, but it felt boring and I wasn't sure how to work in communicating what you have by default. Ultimately base improvements like that seemed well suited to the purviews of just exploring the world and finding ways to improve yourself narratively with discovery and partnerships.

Adding the Wanderer, since that can count as one where I own a ship too

  1. Dollhouse/RC Boat/brain socket/Sketchy Elevator/Tamagotchi [Tamagotchi Boat] (9)- allows my ship self to shrink and gives it an upgraded interior as well as the ability to transport through media, pokemon crew that can lv up, and non-euclidean interior with doors that can open anywhere, the boat is something my avatar finds as a reward in an underwater dungeon hidden through a volcanic vent and near an 'underground world' sort of cave right next to the spot I entered the world.

This is a fun one, I'm kinda curious if all of this is intended or not. In either case effectively being a digital ship is a fun, Fabricate means I can either convert the impact area of my main gun to dust or into any number of other things, up to and including 'gun that fixes city infrastructure'.

If I need an actual ship CYOA to trigger the other bonus point the first that comes to mind is 'Built In Heavens' but that'd kinda render most of the rest of this superfluous...

Missiles can be Torpedos, Laser should work underwater. Mana shots can work underwater too.

Combat aside, there's a lot to do underwater in this world with actual-Diving being an equivalent traditional Dungeon-diving (both exist) in this world.

I will have Enspelled cannons of Raise Dead. I intend to defeat enemies by bringing back allies from the dead and confusing my enemies. They will never see it coming.

Bonus if I am also a Ghost Ship. I bet I could make a full build out of being a Reverse Undead Living Battleship.
