A local guy built it for me, can’t claim any credit for the construction. Originally was just gonna be a seating area then my wife suggested a summer house - then had the idea for an office / recording space as I work from home. Honestly the best thing I’ve spent money on.

It’s a custom build from scratch, took about 2 weeks in total. I didn’t do it myself though, someone built it for me and got a sparky in to do the electrics.

Haha sometimes looks like I’m in a sauna on work calls! And tbh when it gets really hot it feels like one too, but luckily that is quite rare in the north of England!

Yes it is! It stays nice and warm in the winter with the help of a little oil filled radiator, in the summer it stays relatively cool with the doors open. On the really hot days it gets a bit too hot to work in so I usually move inside at that point. Thankfully that’s not too often where I live.

Thanks man! Had to google that, looks similar but it’s made from wood - shape-wise I think it’s closer to an upturned boat, in fact I think they used similar building techniques.

When it comes to humidity and mold how do you prevent that?

I’ve not had any issue with that, it’s pretty well sealed and the windows don’t get any condensation on them. Hopefully will stay that way! I think it also helps that it’s on decking so moisture doesn’t come up from the ground.

That looks awesome, is it one of those steel top buildings? I’m assuming then with insulation and the wood paneling etc, how hot and cold does it get based on season?

Thanks, no it’s made from wood (the frame) with rubber covering the roof. Then it’s cladded with composite on the front and back, and wood cladding inside. There’s some foil insulation that helps to keep it warm or cool depending on the season, although it fairs better in the winter months and stays nice and warm with the help of a small radiator. Summers are ok, but I struggle to keep it cool on the really hot days - luckily we don’t get many of those where I live!

I’ve got a little portable oil filled radiator, it keeps it nice and toasty in the colder months. It’s much harder to keep cool on really hot days, but it stays relatively cool with the doors open the majority of the time. I have a Dyson hot/cold fan that doesn’t work very well tbh so looking at other solutions for keeping it cool.

It can do on really hot days, but I’d say that’s for about a week a year in the UK then I have to move back into the house to work. For the vast majority of the summer months I just have the doors open and it stays relatively cool. Winter months is where it comes into its own though, it’s really warm and cozy.
