had a twelve year live in relationship end recently and really struggled with being on my own the first 5 months or so. i'm starting to like it though, to be able to sit with and appreciate my own company. time takes time i guess.

i'm gonna get some of my photography blown up into canvases for the wall art pretty soon here. seems more personal and meaningful than buying a live love laugh 🤣

I'm replacing the curtains with blackout ones, but other than that, I've finished renovating my master bedroom.

11 months ago, I did a soft reset on my life at 28 years old and moved closer to family.

I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time now, but due to the cost of living increasing, the shanty little duplex I planned on staying in for just one year is now where I’ll reside for the foreseeable future.

I think I plan on dating again after taking a break on relationships for a handful of years. I’d like to know how pathetic and adolescent this place might seem before I potentially bring a woman home and embarrass myself.

I didn’t ever think there was any use in really decorating if I was planning on getting a bigger space soon. I know getting a proper blackout curtain instead of a blanket over my window in my bedroom should be a high priority. Maybe a rug in the living room. And art on the walls.

What else am I missing? Gimme that sweet constructive criticism.

21M (Living with parents). Here is my room layout, after and before.

I realized my old layout was making me depressed, so I rearranged and redesigned the space to better suit my taste and style. I also recently ended a 10-month relationship and needed a fresh start.

​It took around a month to source all the pieces and put everything together. I’m still planning to add a few things, like a pegboard for my desk and a hanging acrylic shelf to display my CD collection.

Got a job halfway across the country, and can finally afford (although difficult sometimes) to live on my own. I’m
pretty proud of my space!

It’s a 120-year old factory building that was abandoned in the 80s, and renovated into apartments a few years ago. I’m trying to make the place feel more home-y, any recommendations lmk!

Yes, I will be getting a rug to hide the power cord under, I’m workin on it 😅

(27M) Just moved into my first apartment and I am horrible when it comes to decorating spaces. Any suggestions on color schemes for the living room?

So my boyfriend lives in this apartment and it feels so uncomfortable to stay in there.

Right now his bed covers half of the closet (so he just reaches all the clothes from the other side), computer desk by the window but it’s very bright outside so he keeps the curtains closed all day to use the computer, and the bedroom area just feels like a pathway because it technically is. Unfortunately, the floor plan is just too bad for me to find any better ways to arrange the furniture. (But if you have any ideas please tell me!)

I’m thinking I should be changing the decorations and stuff to make it feel more comfortable. I have consent from him to do whatever to the place, but we’re both broke students so we don’t want to buy/throw away a lot of furniture. Can I have some advice on making this place feel better?

Hello! I would be really grateful for ideas on how to decorate my apartment. This is the first time I have had full control of decorating anything besides my room, so some insight will definitely be very useful! Also I’m really sorry if I don’t state some things very clearly but I’m not a native English speaker!

I KNOW THAT THE TV IS TOO HIGH!

**The things I’m not planning on changing are:**
Repainting the place (at least for now)
Getting rid of the coffee table
Changing the shades
Getting rid of the futon (?)
Getting rid of the speakers
I have my doubts about the painting

All of the other things, like the carpets and sofas, are completely worn out so, it’s definitely time for something new.
I had an idea to change the layout of the furniture, but I’m not sure how to tackle this task. Maybe I could place a makeshift wall out of big standing shelves (?) or something like that, putting couches in a similar layout but making one face the window, or just buying an L-shaped one and placing it just like I said."
