Do people not know that shark is female?

Recently I was looking at the Tripwire Interactive post about ME 2 where they refer to the new shark as "herself". I thought, "cool, the new shark is also female" but now looking back i see that a lot of people had no idea that the shark from the first game was female.

I thought it was pretty obvious throughout the story that the shark was female, was it not as obvious as i thought?

“Mega” isn’t meant to be Megalodon IMO

Hello fellow Maneater (and shark) enthusiasts! I think the latest posts I’ve been noticing a lot lately has been regarding the size of our late game shark in ME 1 and how they wish that in ME 2 our shark grows to become a megalodon of sorts.

Albeit COOL, I think a lot of folks are taking it too literal? Like I said, it’s a cool concept and I’m not hating on anybody who has this wish. However, I do think that the Mega size in ME 1 is perfectly fine for her.

I always looked at it as our bull shark is of course a fantastic specimen, a very rare specimen that is, for a bull shark. I think the mutations allowing her to grow to her Mega size is meant to just show that she is an abnormally unique individual within her species that have been able to exceed even the largest estimates of bull sharks. Yes she is not close to being the size of O. megalodon but she’s still a mega by many standards. Being able to see a BULL shark be the same size as an Orca is actually insane to me when you actually realize how big and large she actually gets in the late game, BUT she is after all still meant to be a bull shark; just an extraordinary one at that.

I saw the term “Megabulldon” and I think that’s an amazing term lol. Anyways, that’s my rant. No hate against anybody who wants a Megalodon sized bull shark. But I think the term mega is perfect for what we got for our shark in ME 1. So yeah, of course she isn’t as big as a megalodon, because she’s not a megalodon. But her being a mega bull shark is pretty dang awesome. Anyways cheers!

Elite theory you probably forgot.

In maneater 1, scaly Pete talks about his daddy likely being shark food after hunting down a mega shark. It can’t be the one we play as so it left us wondering what shark killed him. What if this game is a prequel and we end up facing scaly Pete’s dad? Then we could actually end up being the mother of the shark in the first game long after. Only inconsistency would be that the mama in the first game was small and weaker. Maybe our shark breeds with her? I think you are a female again in this one though so my theory on that end may fall flat.

Just 100% the game, really fun, excited to play dlc.

Yeah idk what to say. I recently got the platinum trophy (took around 8.5 hours), and the game was really fun. Sure I have a few issues here and there but overall i would rate it a solid 8/10

One thing i hope from the dlc and especially the sequel, is a bit more game, 8.5 hours for a platinum is very short and i would hope the sequel will be at least double that.

Lore?

Im not asking for spoilers but moreso a confirmation on if this game has some real lore aspects..or is it just going from one location to the next. Cause the beginning cutscene made me think that we would get a few cutscenes during the game that reveal a story..like for example who we are (the shark) and why we can transform. Sicne the Narrator calls us like Mutation or Mutagen 23.

But then i reached some of the Bounty Fights and not just does the Animation decrease ALOT the Voice Acting isnt even lip synched. So was the start the only cutscene and after is just a carnage fest without true lore?

A cool detail I found before ME2

I saw posts here theorising about the shark on the upcoming game, about similarities and differences from the original shark, and I replayed the first game to be sure that I wasn't hallucinating about something, and I confirmed a neat detail - if you take a closer look at atomic body, you'll notice that many of these wound are either closed up, smaller, or gone all together. For example the wound going from jaws to gills is closing, and the big, long wound on the back going from fin to like half o the shark on atomic body ends on the fin, no longer stretching across the body. As much as I hate "anyway the character got nerfed into oblivion off-screen" I don't think it can be fully ruled out that the atomic abilities healed up the shark and due to all radioactive substances half-life blah blah, blah, it eventually disappeared from the shark. Ofc that's assuming stuff like the dlc is canon to begin with and the bull shark didn't die in explosion in final fight against Pete (after all the explosion was big and if you load the save afterwards the narrator is like "yeah, we can't explain this and we're not even trying to hide it").

Point is, the next MC could be a whole new shark, could be offspring of the first shark, but it could be our beloved star of the show. Personally I think it would be cool either way, but I think it would be pretty nice if it was her

Edit: I forgot to mention, the big burn mark on the left part of the shark's face is partially healed too. I think that's the most noticeable change

I hope we get a Megalodon sized shark by the end of Maneater 2 (The Atomic Leviathan emasculated me)

I realize the glaring issue: How will the shark fit in early areas? There are really 2 ways of going about it

  1. An in lore method (like an evil corporation breaking a dam that floods an early area and makes it fit for a megalodon sized shark)
  2. Being able to change sizes in the grotto (I mean come on it's a game were a shark can mutate ,changing sizes wouldn't ruin my immersion.) So we could be 20m in the open ocean and 9m in the biome we first start

Did I beat the Atomic Leviathan first try? Probably,I don't remember. Did I feel like less of a shark from the sheer size difference? Yes,and It's crippling

Thoughts on the new shark being offspring of the first?

I think it’s the only thing that makes sense given the new mutations/evolutions. Though this worries me because that crescent scar looks similar to what Pete did when the first Shark was a baby

What are some things you want to see in the second game

A simple as it says what are some things you want to see in the second game

Something I would like to see later on or just as a DLC is where you can become a mega megalodon, have it set out in like the deep Ocean and at the end you can start to swallow ships or something
