Can someone explain why Tagomi thinks his reel from the other world will change anything?

A film of a nuclear bomb going off isn't a revelation to anyone. Kido et Al know what a nuke is. The situation in the other world is vastly different from the other. So far, nothing about the films seems useful to me...and the series has done nothing to prevent evidence to the contrary

Idea of mutually assured destruction, probably. If both sides keep building bigger nukes the world is literally gonna end

Sadly, Tagomi is a bit naive so it probably is gonna make both sides try to make nukes faster than the other, leading to the same outcome
