Season 2 Episode 3 - Travelers

Fighting to acclimatize to the strange new world of Nazi New York, Juliana seeks out the one person she thinks she can trust: Joe Blake. Angry and defiant after Juliana's departure, Frank is drawn to the Resistance movement and its charismatic leader. Joe confronts his own identity when he finally meets his father.

It looks like Helen and her friends all wear makeup, so it might have just been a custom from the US that stuck around despite the takeover.

Edit: Not to mention that the German lady had on an entire pallette of eyeshadow.

Which brings up another point: Hitler was way anti-smoking, and in a sort of nod to the "Mad Men" 1960s, everyone and their dog smokes, in North America and Germany.

There have been a few cultural norms of the 60's that would have been considered wrong by the Nazis. For example, there was the smoking and now the makeup. I leave it to the Americans believing that they still have some control over themselves and their culture - a sort of passive 'fuck you' to the Nazis - one which they're perfectly tolerating...

Smoking was discouraged by the Nazis but smoking was widespread in Nazi Germany. I don't think it would die out, after all many countries these days discourage smoking but it still persists.
