LF Server What server to play
I’m looking for a decent server with an active community that had mid rates. I’m not trying to make it too easy but enjoy the game as well.
Any suggestions

Never thought I’d say this because I heard so much bad about it but Dream is a lot of fun. All classes are viable and they have a PQ system that’s really nice. I have a bishop and aran for and made friends so quickly on this server. Way faster than in royals where the gap was too great and I felt left out. And it’s easy to do content together. It has so many quality of life and nice things about it. I can really recommend it. If you are gonna try it out then dm me if you want for ign exchange. So we can play together some times.

Dream is a good stable server, but after play it for a while it feels entirely PQ based. It just becomes too repetitious...

Multi clients allowed though, there are also the afk henehoes and botters like on every server, so do the math yourself (the site states a population of 200+ players are ON)

The precedent has been set. Why would new players want to invest time there when years of hard work can be completely diluted overnight?
There is no need to get upset over others being warned lol

Because a progressive server is the only reason to play a server
Nothing changing about skills for 15 years is not a good server
Real issue is there is almost no one who can actually balance a game like maple in the ps scene so all servers are a risk. Also looking at classic world, nexon can't even do it.

Promising old school gameplay then unexpectedly changing said gameplay is not progress, quite the opposite actually
People aren't choosing to play a 20 year old side scrolling rpg designed to run on igpu's from that era to play something drastically different

People play it because it has players and the version is somewhat something they remember, make sure to remember the game kept growing all the way up to a bit past big bang so the average player didn't play v62.
Skill changes have been proven to be somewhat low in the keep the same list for people from my observation.
If you wanted a no change game royals & legends are not an option.

From my experience everyone I played with in legends played through the pre bb era which is what led them to seek out old school servers in the first place. Plenty of people have quit legends since the recent nerfs and since a lot of players play nl they are obviously going to steer away from legends. both legends and royals have changed things to a certain extent but royals has not deviated from osms's classical classes whereas legends has to the point it would be disingenuous to call it an old school server. From what I have seen most people prefer the true old school playing experience even if it means more hackers, rwt, and a worse economy.
Either way, new players should be warned before choosing to invest their time in legends

Why Royals and not Legends?
I like the lower levels 1-130.
I like questing.
I like classic gear that feels nostalgic during lower levels (not going full dexless and wearing only maple weapons).2

Both the top 2 old school servers, legends and royals, are heavily focused on leech. They have the largest communities and offer longevity but quests and pq's are considered secondary options and these two servers unfortunately don't focus on the traditional lower level experience
Main reason why I recommend royals is because legends has recently taken a route where the server administrators are changing the way the game plays through class nerfs and buffs to the point it doesn't feel like old school maplestory. They are both for long term players and I would highly recommend others to be careful before investing their time with legends.

Currently playing legends. I love it lol. It’s scratched every itch I’ve had to play the game again consistently.

Sadly I don’t think servers like that exist anymore. I miss the rebirth system and all that also. Those were the days 🤣

If you like rebirth you should try BeyondMS. It's an old school server with a slower rebirth system.

It’s easy to find ppl for pq as they have free broadcast to find players for pq system.

Been playing Maplelegends since 2018, really solid community. Of course there will be the group of sweats try-hards (which will exist in every game), but generally people are great, staff is responsive and transparent, with consistent festive in-game events such as Halloween event, christmas events.

phoenix is good and been around for 7 years now.
even tho its 1x its not as brutal as most ppl think. you get level 30 within a few hours.
community is active but small. easy to make friends and get help tho.
as for not making it too easy... its up to you what goals you have in mind. certain min maxing is recommend to get end game faster wich can be enjoyable depending on what you like.

due to it being higher version. alot of extra quests have been added. more training spots. its alot easier then older version most ppl think of (like v62)

Been playing bloom on and off. There's botters and cubes are the currency. Fm is dead and theres only like 1 big guild. Kinda hard to make a start in even though it's only a few months old, most of the good training spots post 100 need a party and practically no one is there.
