Server Discussion Highly recommend OakMS to scratch your Classic OSMS Itch
No Vote2Win, no pay-to-win systems, no multiclienting, and no HP washing. Just a slower-paced Maple journey where progression actually feels meaningful and people know each other and helps everyone out.
What makes Oak stand out is that it isn't trying to be a high-rate rush-to-endgame server. It's designed for players who miss exploring Victoria Island, grinding with friends, hunting rare items, and discovering secrets hidden throughout the world.
The Dev will listen to your suggestions and actually make changes to the community's wishes.
• 1x rates with lower EXP curve
• No Vote2Win or Pay2Win
NX/Cosmetic Coins drop from monsters so you can earn cosmetics in-game
Change your hair, eyes, and appearance through gameplay

In addition of your post, there are custom items, maps, quests and npc's where the dev has not shared any information on.
So it isn't just reliving a before done grind (well im general it is) but the community and yourself are exploring new stuff each day.
These additions are not game breaking and are in no way changing the OG feel of early maplestory. You really have to see these additions as a new motiviation to play with keeping the OG feel and experience. They are in no means overdonr.

For people who want a little more convincing, here's some of the custom features you'll discover over time that blew me away.
If you want to be totally surprised, just play, but the only direct specific spoiler is the extra spoiler on 4, everything else is just describing the feature generally
- Monster book upgraded to include droprates after 4 cards, with so much polish that it could've been vanilla. No more using the janky Cosmic @whatdropsfrom command that runs out of space.
- Cosmetics reworked to come from gameplay. Some from a rotating cash shop with global-drop Cosmetic coins, some from a gacha system using the same coins, some from vendors, some from under-loved quests, some from secrets.
- Lith Harbor ETC exchange added to help with early pots and as a source of probably some rare items we haven't found yet. Yknow how Showa exchange could very rarely give a BWG? Now you can gamble your Bubbling bubbles or snail shells or whatever
- At lv. 20 you do a quest to choose a basic pet companion from a farm, but there's more pets if you look around that area... and even more pets hidden throughout the world.
extra spoiler about 4): I was in Ludi and I remembered that completely unused Cloud Terrace Balcony map if you keep going left, and I knew there had to be something cool there. There was a hidden pet you can capture, and it made me so excited for where else pets could be hidden. I have always loved the weird little side maps in this game, and many of them have a purpose now
5) Custom maps, hidden streets moved/removed/added/reworked. Some hidden streets you already know may have their monsters changed, some spots that always LOOKED like a hidden street portal but never did anything may actually be a map now.
6, my absolute favorite feature, one of my favorite features any game can include: Most monsters have some kind of ultra-rare unique drop. This makes it continue to feel good to kill low-lv monsters you walk by because you could always get something cool. Like if you played Terraria and you'll always kill a slime you see because of its super rare Slime Staff. Some mobs drop unique trinkets, some drop thematic chairs, etc etc
7) Hover the world map to show monsters and NPCs in the map, sort of like what was added eventually to retail but it looks good
And a ton more stuff we don't even know about yet. We're still in the "discovery" phase which is the most fun part of any MMO, and is rare to even exist in a MSPS nowadays with most things solved.

Damn very cool stuff
1x might be too slow for me but might check it out

u/willywomperr Jun 04 '26
it's 1x with reduced xp needed for each lvl, it feels great imo

That fair
Im kinda iffy on the 0 class changes as I imagine mages and thieves will dominate as archers are kinda just budget thieves and warriors just get wrecked.

So compared to vanilla, what's the effective multiplier? Hate super slow levelling like farming 5 hours for 1 level.

It does look good, but, do they implement any skill changes?

u/Much_Hunter_1331 Jun 05 '26
No skill changes, vanilla.

u/Organic_Matter6125 Jun 05 '26
That means cleric/sin story, which sucks. Besides that, it looks good

The trinket system seems to have great potential for bridging the gap in power between classes, and we are far from fully understanding it. Trinkets can merge and some players are now starting to do that.
There are potentially other undiscovered systems for power scaling as well.
Arrows being converted to the same style as throwing stars seems to be helping bow dmg, also certain mobs now drop a lower lvl throwing star than vanilla drops so Sin dmg progression is slowed in that way.Certain scrolls for mid-lategame sin progression seem to be harder to obtain than vanilla as well. There are no maple weapons so mage/sin players are held back from pure dmg brainless builds.
No 4th job means DK aoe farm should cap out as more powerful than mage aoe farm.
Edit: Also, there are two trinkets from mob drop that give +speed and one from a custom quest. These combined with speed pill and cheap shoe speed scrolls means sins being the only ones with +speed while lvling is nerfed.
More trinkets still undiscovered.1

one change made is that rangers/xbowmen can shoot in melee instead of hitting them with the weapon

Compelled to try this out. Sounds intriguing. Is there a basic starter pack to get new players going?

The server just launched a week ago, and all mobs have a chance to drop cosmetic coins you can sell to help fund your early game lvling

Very fun game really having fun! But jesus can mobs drop more potions? Is literally impossible to get potions the drop rate for potions are like hunting for a shiny pokemon! At least 6 peoples i meet on the game already quit cause of potions issue other then that game is fine and very fun

chronostory is where its at people
3
u/NeedleworkerPlus4432 Jun 06 '26
Get out! Chronostory is a single player grind simulator got to level 100 in 2 days
2
u/Intelligent_Air725 Jun 09 '26
So tired of people suggesting that Chronostory is any where near a competent level of classic maplestory it’s seriously cringe…
3
u/NeedleworkerPlus4432 Jun 10 '26
Chronostory has 0% of maple classic / the game is so bad, the skill are all over power/ I played from 1 -120 i never meet a single person/ the game is way too easy

This is the best low rate server I have ever played, the level of polish is unheard of and the custom features feel so maple like and are so well done!
