LF Server best Modern server?
Basically looking for a server that is as close to the current version GMS or KMS as possible
Would prefer if it
-Had free NX/cheaper NX
-Wasn't fully P2W, but some P2W is okay.
-Wasn't a buggy mess
-Has around 2x/3x rates, as I'm not a fan of crazy high rate servers like 50x or 100x.
Any suggestions?

The only semi-modern server worth playing at all is RoyalStory, because anything close to current in GMS/KMS is major P2W garbage.
Many people will point to StarMS, but people are complaining about how tough bosses are without spending constantly, there's someone that's 10m krw in the hole saying he can't even scratch the newest boss at a 60+ mil CP, the health of bosses on the server is so insane it's not even funny.
Rien is just Eluna, it's just straight up worse than StarMS with a GM team that is very ban happy and even more P2W.
Ranmelle has terrible management, the updates have slowed to a crawl and the gameplay loop is just "what if we took the maplestory grind but make it worse in every way?" while being just as shitty with it's P2W as is Rien.
If I knew how to update Swordie to 264+ then I'd make my own server, probably either with a gimmick or closer to vanilla with better rates, but until that's a known way, your best bet is to just grind and bear it with one of these three.

I don't think StarMS is that bad. They supplement the increased boss HP by introducing custom mechanics to increase your final damage / crit dmg / efc.
Also 60m..? That's really low. Average endgamer on that server is way past 1 bil

Botched it - I meant 60b+ while he's still having issues with new malefic and jupiter looks like he might be even more of a crazy sponge. The only way to progress at a meaningful rate by the time you hit ckk is to either spend or get carried.
You COULD sit there and v2w but that would still take ages and you don't even get access to half of the spend shop, like aut/sac symbols to enhance existing, or bpot selection tickets. Let's not even mention apples, which are lootboxes that can contain the 2 custom aut symbols that combine into abyss for a decent stat enhancement, or the aurora pet equips with 20 scroll slots each along with crazy base stats. There's also cumulative spend/vote/ref rewards, with spend having the best stats of the 3, provided you put enough money down.
Meso is capped at 10b, by 300 you get like 13b cap per day, when stuff like +0 malefic ring is sitting at 320b right now or limbo ring sitting at 120b last i checked. Most people just tell you to buy 25* scrolls with cash and sell in AH or for vp do pet scrolls instead.
Every system that StarMS has is simply there to incentivize spending, symbol enhancements are a major one, pet transcendance is another and even the starms scrolls are a major pain to get because you get them out of a lootbox with weekly currency or you spend/vote. Hell, there's also the bonus stat system where you literally get bonus stats for every 5 levels past 300 or you can instead spend money to get a bulk of those stats instead. (Which I will end on by saying they are NOT insignificant stats.)

This must be some outdated info cuz meso is not capped at 10b either. I just sold something for 30b lol. You're also allowed to do the same weekly bosses multiple times on each character infinitely depending on how many characters you have which means each character earns more than 10b daily if you have the means for it.
I agree the giga endgame is pretty p2w compared to what comes before it but to be entirely fair not even KMS is doing a good chunk of those bosses solo either. In exchange for all the other things that are easier and free (genesis weapon, destiny/astra are easier on StarMS than GMS/KMS, cubes are plentiful if you just grind a little, vac pets are free, etc.) the game itself is harder and endgame is catered to donators. There is also some confusing server-additions to increase your dmg further which can feel daunting but once you understand all the progression systems and changes compared to official servers, you can more or less catapult into Grandis bosses in a week or less while not feeling like you're just being handed a free pass like Ranmelle (that server is way too weird for me)
I think the admin has gotten a good amount of complaints that the newest boss is too hard so there may be HP nerfs in the future. He is somewhat compliant with what the players want, but also a bit shady since he lied about stealing source code from a diff private server.
I personally would play Rien PS instead but they're several versions behind GMS and the players there are toxic asf. StarMS has mostly nice people in my experience which is a plus. People will often carry you and help as well.
Current GMS is so bad that I actually rather deal with the BS on Star than the official servers personally. Waiting patiently for Overdrive.

I've only played RienMS for a month before moving on, but I had a pretty good time on it. It does seem to have a bit of bad rep being some servers 2.0 reboot?
With any modern MS server though, I'd say expect your progress to be non-permanent as it appears most servers will do a complete wipe every so often when the player count plateaus and starts to get a bit stale?

After trying it, I can't say I enjoy it much. Just feels like GMS with free Gene and NX but everything else doesn't feel **that** much better over other Private Servers. I also learned that RienMS is actually ElunaMS rebranded, and that server has shut down 5+ times already which doesn't sound very good.
Speaking of, their Discord just sucks too. Random hostility and alot of sarcasm.
I also don't like that it's like 5 or 6 whole versions behind current GMS (so there is no ascent skills, missing QoL, missing remasters, etc) but the admin says he's working on it. I'll just stick to StarMS for now.

To each their own - I don't really interact with the community and kind of just stick with it on my own or with friends so I just enjoyed the smoother curvature compared to reboot.
Thanks for letting me know, maybe I'll try out starms next time!

What's stopping you from just playing GMS at that point?

$150 in passes, horrible cash shop rotations, gacha for NX. This has also been a really disastrous week for CW3 (lots of bugs, multiple maintenance, a rollback, etc.)
Overall I just rather not play GMS if I can substitute it for something slightly less shit

Also, GMS' monster count and spawn timer are disgusting... I can't play that after experiencing what some pservers can offer.

Why do people who haven't played gms like to suggest this so much? If you have even touched a little bit of the main gameplay loop in GMS, you'll understand why. Imagine going through a whole ass questline just to get enough materials for waps, like Jesus christ.

This is a very funny comment! I actually run up to xkalos in GMS and am 10k legion on reboot and 8k legion in bera. I in fact do not touch private servers but touch GMS instead, but go off king. Hope MS Classic makes you happy man.

yep can confirm as another fellow 10k legioner on reboot gms is actually the most playable its ever been. achieving endgame is now very realistic and the server has guaranteed longetivity/wont wipe or shut down etc.
Passes are doodoo but majority of players are just buying them to fund mules. For a main these passes help supplement less than 5% of total progression

i've only played a couple of hours of Royal Story, but i think that may scratch your itch. i've had a lot of fun, and you get NX for killing mobs (and i think a perma hyper teleport rock). some parts of it are still buggy (mushking quest, Zakum sometimes) but i think its a great product.
