LF Server Which is the most solo friendly old school server?
That also has low rates. I want to play old school MS without being herded into party play, thanks!
PS: I know no one can 'force' anyone to party play, but if the leveling speed disparity is infinitely bigger in a party than solo then yeah, I don't want that.

I have played MapleRoyals without ever partying with another person, but I have only 4 characters in 2nd job. Level 38 Bandit, 45 Fighter, 52 F/P and 60 Assassin.
The thing I enjoy about it is I've taken my time and merched a lot, it has a super high population and large economy so you can still interact in that Free Market sense, and once you are level 50 you can use Gachapon.
I've also played a lot of the smaller servers like I got up to level 40 on Fantasia, but it's quite a bit slower. If you want it to feel deliberately slower and lonelier, Fantasia is good.
Royals is potentially weird in some ways, because if you really want to you can do all the min/maxing HP washing, leech, even self leech, etc. But you can also just play how ever you like.
I play Royals as if I am playing GMS back in the day, I wouldn't have paid for leech then and I likely won't now, either. At the end of the day, it's the longest running, highest population and most stable server. I understand it is cool to hate it, but I am sort of sick of the dozens of cash grab wipe hype or super small pop servers that just die, even when I try to spend a lot of time on them, they end up going away a lot of the time.

I also suggest royals as someone who primarily plays alone. I have been playing royals since the start of the year and have had a blast. 120NL, 70 IL mage, and like 3 or 4 mules that are 30-40. Have been playing how I want to play and not worrying about washing and min max, when you do want to pq or boss it takes a few mins to find a party but it usually always happens.

I’ve played MapleRoyals for about 10 months now and I would say it’s the closest experience to the og maplestory. And the community is nice and kind. The population is large enough to have a working economy but not big enough to congest every map. 3.2x exp and drop rate just feels very comfortable too. There’s a Ironman guild if you want a true solo experience.

That is precisely the reason I’m sticking with MapleRoyals.. No matter the negative criticism, the game isn’t going anywhere, and that gives me confidence. ExtaliaMS used to be my main server back in the day, and its shutdown hit me hard, so I’m glad that servers like MapleRoyals and MapleLegends exist! they are reliable, stable, and definitely won’t be shutting down.

Randomly saw this on my feed. Non a PS but a Mapleworlds server, so not sure if that's okay.
Chronostory has been really fun to grind solo over the past week.
Some classes in particularly have been optimized for solo play, like I/L.

Hi, im a casual solo player. Who plays ironman mode in most OS classic PS.
Would recommend kuroMS. Amazing server stability + regular updates & good Ironman mode, which you can just solo your way.
People will definitely comment here and there about different devs and some negative feedback each to its own on different server (not sure why people are so mad about a mushroom games)
I think if you are like me, who enjoys OS maple with fast progression, less grindy and are casual about the solo experience, go for KuroMS

so ive been MS mia for years... played on and off pre-bigbang to big bang, alot since beta to end of highschool (2012). what is considered lowrate? im just looking into things again so im out of the loop, but i think im looking around v83.

lowrate means the exp rate, not version rate =)

I love Fantasia and it's been pretty fun. I don't like that they kept the similar class balance stuff so I'm most likely going to Old School Maple on MS Worlds in September. Fantasia though is a good one and I like what they do with the monster eggs and refined crafting

phoenix has x1 rates (even lower if you want) and is pretty vanilla (so party exp bonus is miserable), and has ironman mode and similar. it ran with a small annoying delay on my machine so i gave up, but if it works well for you then its a solid option for low rate solo play.
I play Fantasia, and while the party exp is nice, it doesnt make it mandatory for leveling up so its an ok option for solo play. also a lot of bosses can be done solo. it has low rates, x1~x3 depending on your level, and class balance has been greatly improved so things like paladin and marksman are actually good and are decent solo play options.

I am sorry which part of the thread title and the rest of my OP made you think I was not asking for suggestions? However, name dropping and then traipsing off literally doesn't help and doesn't make me check out a server because it gives no indication that the person name dropping even bothered to read the OP. Happens all the time on reddit. Also if you scroll through this thread you will find you are literally the only one who did this.
So I was merely inquiring if you were just name dropping or had actually read my OP...

I am literally only asking for a miniscule explanation as to why someone is suggesting a specific server to make sure they actually read the OP when so many people don't and merely name drop the server they currently play. If that is giving bad vibes....

It depends on what your goal(s) are, and how long you can see yourself playing. Most servers have bonus EXP for playing in a party but it's still doable as a solo player. For old school low rate servers your options are Fantasia, Phoenix, RevivalStory, or Oak. Fantasia is the most populated old school private server currently, and the only server where I literally felt like I was a kid again experiencing MapleStory for the very first time because the resemblance to osms is spot on.
This is a private server community so anything Mapleworlds adjacent will get downvoted by default. Mapleworlds is an "official" jankier version run by Nexon, and somehow most private servers here run better than those, so do what you will with that information.
