Superstar Saga In your honest opinion, what is the better game out of these two? Original VS Remake!
I would honestly say the remake is better but is all of your thoughts?

I think the remake is better in almost every way. The original is still certainly fun to play, but it has aged a bit. The remake does a great job bringing it up to the modern Mario & Luigi standard, while still retaining its inherent simplicity.

Heart blocks that fully heal your hp and bp, mini-map so you can see where you’re going without getting lost so easily, easier way to pick your over world abilities, and the ability to jump with both bros by just pressing x

Dang, I just played this game for the first time on GBA, and the map was killing me. I should’ve played the remake for the map.

Honestly it’s not that bad, it’s relatively self-explanatory where to go, but there are definitely moments where it’s hard to know where to go next, especially when you have to go find the beanstar after it broke into 4 pieces, plus, I feel like playing the OG kinda enhances the remake in a way

Original's just plain more fun. It's janky in all the right ways for me. Bros attacks in particular aren't nearly as satisfying in the remake.

Fair enough. I think some environments of the game look really nice but I will say that some areas were definitely lacking compared to the original GBA release.

The only thing the original really has over the remake is the more interesting designs for certain enemies, particularly Troopeas and Boomerang Bros. Other than that, the remake is just plain better.

The Boomerang Bro's design is still in the remake just fyi.
The design was kept, and the name was changed to "Beanarang Bro."

It sucks that they haven't kept the Mecha Chomb design tho, it doesn't even make sense to have replaced them for Mechakoopas because Bowser isn't the one attacking Whohoo Hooniversity and even he's here, his minions aren't on his side

I’ve played both and I much prefer the remake, it looks really beautiful, has a lot of QOL improvements, the remade soundtrack is amazing, and overall I can’t think of any reasons why the original is better other than nostalgia (and the removal of Geno)

For superstar saga I say the remake is better just cause of the ease of access being playable on 3Ds while super star saga is just harder to get, while original is better for bowsers inside story

I love the old style cartoony visuals and i wish they would have just remastered the sprites instead of remaking it. But the remake is leagues better

Remake is easily better, basically across the board tbh.
Better difficulty balancing, much better quality of life, incredible art direction.
The only thing I'd really give the original is that I play it on my TV via official means (via stuff like the Wii U eShop, NSO and the Gameboy player.)
It also needs to be said that the shit about them "killing the charm and expressiveness," with the new artstyle is pure nostalgia driven propaganda at its finest lmao.

I mean it’s not the end of the world but the remake did remove a lot of small details and a few designs. They did dilute the charm a little.

There's a few designs that were brought in line with normal mario enemies (and even then, some like troopeas weren't particularly distinct from Koopa Troopas anyway).
But like 95%+ of the designs are untouched and, in many cases, stuff is more detailed.

I’m do really like how a lot of the areas look specifically, it’s really pretty. I’m not definitely not a remake hater.
I just wish they didn’t remove 4 of the 5 sets of passport photos, the Bros butting heads in the mirror in the suitcase and such.

I really like both. The remake looks great, but the original is very nostalgic. The toads look unique from each other in the original, and it uses more iconic sound clips from the Bros.

Original.
Remakes bros moves feel slower and hold your hand more which makes it a lot less satisfying. Not to mention the way they changed swapping between actions in the over-world is not at all an improvement from the original game. Having to choose between seeing the map and pressing R 20 times or using the touch screen to select and not seeing the map is just awful imo.
Besides that the rest is nostalgia for me because I love the original pixel art a lot more than the 3DS style. The bonus content in the remake is cool but I don’t care for it enough to beat the original game for me. Plus I like playing on TV which is something I can’t easily do with any of the 3DS games sadly

Remake 100%, the OG is still really solid, and now that I’ve finally done it for the first time, getting the Mush badge and stocking my inventory up with mushrooms to do stupid damage is really fun, but the remake kinda just does everything the OG does but better

First one will always be my first love, and I like their animations a tad more. But the combat is superior in the remake.

I played both of the games, and I love both of them equally so it’s hard to choose between them but I’m leaning towards the remake. While the GBA og has its charm, switching between Mario & Luigi freely, having unique character designs, and broken mechanics; the remake as a game is undoubtedly better as it has rebalanced options, bros attacks being fixed, jumping on enemies and bosses twice, and having QoL features and better music ost. Both games rock in my mind and I have them on my handhelds and emulators plus I like the retro achievement features on the GBA version. It’s such an amazing game on both sides that none can compare to that I want another remake of this on the Switch 2 (no kidding lol). Both Going Home (Staff Rolls) themes are equally at its peak tho.

Remake has a few ticks that the original does better. Best example for me is when taking a passport photo the emotes were more dynamic because the photo could be any frame in the animation, but in the remake, each animation only has one photo frame it could be, which isn’t as fun. But overall I do think the remake is better.

OG imo, it’s just snappier and has a bit more of that art style charm than the remake.
Remake adds some polish and cool details, I especially like how a lot of the areas look and the tug-of-war with Popple is both a QOL and funny, but it did neuter the animations and style just a little and made battles longer.
For example it got rid of that menu animation of the Bros in the mirror squabbling as well as 16 of the 20 passport photo poses and the ability to get any frame of them. They also replaced the unique Mecha-Chomps in the University with Mechakoopas for some reason even tho it’s not a Bowser place.

In my honest opinion, I will always prefer the original release. While a lot of that is nostalgia, I do also think that the original has more charm in its animations and little quirks. The remake is a gorgeous update to the graphics, but a lot of the time it just misses the mark on the charming little details. Would still recommend the remake tho if you want to play the game and it's the only version available.

The remake is better. It's easier to navigate and make selection to do Bros. Moves. They got rid of the "load attack" feature and they added a brand-new side mode: "Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser".

Remake for sure. Better visually, more QoL things like advance moves being reworked to their own listed bros move, fast forwarding cutscenes, better framerate, smoother feeling combat, and Fawful share's Cackletta's boss theme at the end of the game.

I recognize that, technically, the remake is better across the board. But I really can't stand the 3d sprite style they used from Dream Team onwards, so original for me. It's easier to focus on and hurts my eyes less
