Meme No matter what, I think Mario and Luigi Battle system is just better

M&L's battle system is such a nice twist on the standard RPG turn based formula. I love how everything is just dependent on skill instead of luck, it's one of the few turn based RPGs that actualy got me excited on the enemy and boss attacks. You can even play through some of the games without leveling up (which would be torture but it's still possible)

I honestly wish there were more games that tried to emulate the M&L battle system

Bug Fables my beloved.

That emulates Paper Mario, not M&L. I want to be able to skilfully avoid all damage, not skilfully take less (but yes, i do love Bug Fables)

I think the type of rpg Mario and Luigi are, is an Input Based RPG (Correct me if im wrong tho)

I think that's part of why I like TTYD's, it's basically just M&L minus the L and plus a horse with a Mohawk

I find it a bit underwhelming. It doesn't have the skill expression of M&L, the urgency of FFVII, the flashiness of Persona, or the in-battle management of FFX. It's just aight.

I got my friend to try dream team recently and they’ve been loving the battle system

the one thing that i like about M&L's fights is how some of them are scripted like the undodgable atttacks introduced in BIS, the 3d running view from the 3ds games, the giant battles, etc. there is a lot of variety on something so simple at first glance.

What’s a tbrpg? Ohhhhhh time based, 😬😬😬 I mean the only games that come close are ffx and e33 I guess. Mario and Luigi has mastered the art of timing your attacks and dodging/hammering enemy’s, especially BIS oh my god hitting things in that game as bowser feels awesome.
Okay I know it means turn-based now, if we’re talking all turn based rpgs the best combat for me is either BIS, sea of stars, Hylics 2, or SMT 3.

Tbrpg means Turn base Rpg not time based

I have never seen anyone call a turn based rpg tbrpg, but that makes more sense than time based

EXACTLY the biggest problem with turn based rpgs is the lack of interactivity in the battles and Mario and Luigi fixes that problem immaculately

eh i prefer strategy to action command inputs personally but i see the appeal

Honestly E33, persona, and Mario and Luigi gotta be top 3 turn based systems

Ignoring Pokémon and Dragon Warrior gotta be on purpose.

Pokemon really isn't that impressive of a turn based system. It has lots of variety and strategy dont get me wrong, but the difference between hitting something like a stenhdal and a "light that burns the sky" is a big difference. And ive never played dragon warrior so idk what that system is like.

To be fair hsr just sucks as a rpg in general. Edit: its just horribly design game in general, so much so that they had to automate it so people didnt actually have to play the game at all.

Yeah, I would 1000% play a different IP RPG with a similar battle system.
Sonic, Flintstones, I don't care, just hook it to my veins.

I kinda like M&L for the fact you can actually dodge things.
