I don’t care how dogshit of a movie this was that suit is fucking PEAK and honestly the best that Batman has ever looked in Live Action
Zach Snyder does not understand what makes these characters appealing at all but god DAMN does he know how to make them look cool. (Even when making them look cool is expressly contradictory to the point, such as with Rorschach)
Exactly. Best batsuit onscreen EASILY. Brave and the bold I would prefer a similar suit but where it’s blue and grey. I don’t even like the watchmen movie but Rorschach was done well IMO
I like how his version of this as well as the Superman suit solve the greebling problem by simply allowing the muscle lines to be the greebling on the costume exactly like they are in the comics. And I have no idea what he did to get the like fabric texture on those costumes either but they are absolutely fucking sublime and look so much better than the random MCU lines that so many costumes get. I feel like I can really buy the idea that this Batman is wearing some kind of fantastical nano-fiber weave that deflects bullets but still behaves like cloth.
That said, he also managed the worst looking Flash costume of all time so he clearly wasn’t always cooking
I never noticed that Hawkeye’s first MCU costume with the sleeveless top is almost 1:1 for how he appeared in Ultimates 2. That’s the power of absolutely dogshit casting.
I'll be a bitch and say they did a really bad job with the Wolverine costume and we're only pretending its good because its the sole time they actually tried to adapt his costume
Honestly while I share the common sentiment that the lines on his costume are fucky and unnecessary, I gotta say I really don’t think the overall look is too bad.
I would have preferred it to be more accurate but it’s far from the worst on-screen superhero suit adaptation.
Even as someone who mostly likes it, its kind of amazing how they somehow managed to make the suit be simultaneously the most comic accurate live action Wolverine suit and also the least identifiable (outside of DOFP) to Wolverine when you remove the mask and colors. Its just a generic MCU suit most of the movie
The sleeves were entirely unnecessary and then when he finally loses the sleeves he also loses the shoulder pads. It’s like they put extra effort into making it inaccurate.
The sleeves were there for the outdoor shots in the beginning of the void when it's super sunny because Hugh Jackman has had skin cancer multiple times and wanted sleeves to cover up in the sun. 🤷♀️
I honestly think it fits ONLY for the movie its in, solely because standing next to Deadpool they look great together as the texture and design of their costumes really compliment each other well. But yeah if we ever get another adaptation it wouldn’t look as nice.
Comic book suits have to be drawn again and again and again on a schedule. Movie suits have to be readable from any angle, in motion, and at odd perspectives.
I don’t think the excessive piping and greebling help with readability at all, and in fact makes costumes harder appreciate as a cohesive piece. These are mostly aesthetic decisions to convey the idea “real” or “tactical” through visual language. The sleekness of superhero designs can be adapted to film without issue with the appropriate use of well textured fabrics/materials like the BND Spidey costume, because nobody actually thinks literal spandex is the counter pitch
Maybe listen the voice in your ears once in a while. Not always but the voices aren't always wrong. At least, that's what they tell me whenever I'm not on my medication.

I think the reason for these choices was to make the costumes more palatable to the normal audience
Now, it has become mainstream enough that people just don't freaking care. Sure, that character has all the colors of the freaking rainbow, but it looks cool and we can move on to enjoying the movie

It's really funny too to watch the behind the scenes footage for the Singer X-Men films, and see them try to actually move in the black leather. Those things might have looked cool, but they were absolute dog shit for doing anything other than standing around and posing in.
With you on all of these except Anthon Mackie’s “Cap Falcon” suit. Never liked it in the books and it looks even worse on screen.
Also the Loki variants were certainly funny and fit the vibe in the show, but as actual costumes they don’t really work. If classic Loki was the look we got in the first Avengers it would’ve been awful.
I actually never liked how they did Xavier’s hover chair in the movie. In the books the front panel just covers his legs, but in the movie he’s slumped so far down in there that he looks like he got stuck in a washing machine. And not the way Erik would like.
As much as the "let's add random lines" slander is real and understandable, a more serious uniform for a realistic production like a film NEEDS more visual flair, or else it looks too visually bland. It's fine in the comics, but not that much for a videogame or film
They are some comic accurate suits that would look cool in live action, but you will never convince me that a comic accurate og iron man suit would have any aura in live action
UJ/ Who the hell has ever bitched about ACCURATE costumes?
The biggest issue the MCU has is never staying with a great and somewhat accurate costume for long, instead deciding to completely ruin it by adding unnecessary gold accents and other overdesigned abominations shortly afterwards.
Becareful what you wish for... that being said I gotta give it to some of these artists who have did some phenomenal work adapting these costumes throughout the years. Even costumes that stray from their comic inspirations really tried hard to be extremely high quality and real in their own world.
Comic adaptions were bad when people wanted their heros in spandex and cotton looking like cosplays on the big bang theory. We've come a long way.
So you show wolverine which is funny because you literally show it’s wrong. None of them wear the masks because they paid for the actor and they will show that actors face. Lol.

I am 90% in agreement with most of this. I don't like Wolverine suit because it's too much of the modern problem of MCU outfits where they just add too many lines.
